| Huh???? (rant) I read here again and again for new Yorkie owners to be prepared. Have $$ for emergency vetting, have supplies a, b & c ready, read books 1, 2 & 3 before bringing furbaby home, etc. If you can't do this, you should wait to get a yorkie until you can. How can we be this concerned for our furbabies, but some people with new skinbabies have absolutely NO CLUE whatsoever? Tonight, I had new parents (grown, not teens) bring in a 5 day old baby because it wasn't tolerating formula. Find out they are not giving recommended formula, can't buy "this week". (Whatever happened to breast feeding? That is free... but I digress). I had to give them formula to take home. They ran out of vaseline for the circumcision (hmmm, 5 days old, may have just had the tiny packet supplied in the hospital). I instructed them to purchase some. Had no idea how to check a rectal temp, and in fact, were horrified at the thought. More education done. How does this baby have a snowballs chance in h***? How do people bring a child into this world so completely unprepared to take care of it? I have no kids, but my tax dollars are gonna raise this one. I am so upset when I see this stuff. I just want to shake the parents and ask them what in the h*** were you thinking? Can you not read? Ask questions??? Did you not realize that you cannot afford a child???? You can't even seem to buy soap for yourselves!!! I'm sorry for my rant. Sometimes the crap I see at work just won't get out of my head.

| It is amazing that the human race has made it this far with many of the parents out there. Hang in there.

| LOL. I'm wasn't that familiar with that movie and had to Google it but boy, it sounds like we're moving in that direction in many ways!

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | I can not imagine letting them take the baby out of your office How scary this child doesn't sound like it has a chance and so sad. But thank you for educating them a little.

| Anonymous call by a "neighbor" to social services saying that you think these people need some help because they are neglecting their child because they don't seem to be able to care for it....honestly, its at least a try.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | My view is just because you can reproduce doesn't mean you should. It is just sad that there is people out there that can not have children and will be the best parents in the world. Yet there is others that can reproduce like rabbits and can not take care of their children. So so sad

| As an ED nurse, I am obligated by law to report any suspected abuse or neglect. This little nugget wasn't neglected; they seemed to care and were doing the best they could with the resources they had, but my point is they have no resources and both were dumb as a box of rocks. Unfortunately, I see this stuff every day. People who shouldn't have a puppy, much less kids. There was another woman, younger than me, not a tooth in her head (nor her daughters) who was bragging on her 15th grandchild. Really????? Just frustrating.

| What makes me most upset about this is that there are so many people out there struggling with fertility who would give anything to get pregnant...and then there are children (or grown-up adult children) who have no clue what they're getting themselves into and carelessly reproduce when they clearly have no business having a child. I know that no matter how prepared you think you are, you never truly know what it'll be like til you have the baby, but come on. didnt they read any sort of literature at all? Don't they have an ounce of common sense?!

As for your second person, I can relate to that, too. I've been told, point blank, that they were happy this child was going to have medical issues because it meant more money from the government. It makes me very, very sad to send some of our babies home, knowing that they will be neglected and even abused. Unfortunately DFACS here won't bother with them until something actually does happen.

| As someone who has actually been a surrogate, twice, for infertile couples, I honestly can say it frustrates the heck out of me...... Girls leaving babies in trash cans and dumpsters and having more children just so they can collect a welfare check and won't take care of the children they were blessed with, and there are so many women out there who yearn to fill their arms. Nothing can describe the joy on an infertile woman's face when she holds her newborn infant minutes after she was born, or a daddy's face as he cuts the umbilical cord of the daughter he thought he would never have. That little girl turned 4 Saturday, and I got the joy of telling her happy birthday, and of having her mom and dad thank me for carrying her for them, again, just like they do every year on her birthday. I just don't get why people who can't take care of themselves think they can take care of a helpless child??
