| Sorry I need to vent Christmas didn't go so well moose got sick christmas night of which on vomit spell landed on me. Yesterday my mom's doc told us to take her to the er. So I got my mom ready and took her to the er and told my dad just to stay at home and I will call him when we get seen. Well my mom's GP was suppose to have called...yeah he didn't We got there at 10:30am finally at noon they get her insuance info at this point the migraines she deals with daily have hit full on and she can't talk. We sit back down an hour later she is almost passing out and I am trying my best to keep her eyes open out in the waiting room. I go to the admin. station and say my mom is getting ready to pass out can someone get her back there, the nurse goes well you haven't been here but maybe 2 hrs come tell me is she passes out. As we are sitting next to another girl and her boyfriend and he is trying to keep her from passing out and keeps checking her pulse. Finally by 2pm we get mom to trage (sp), the nurse was so rude and cracked a joke about the fact that my mom has been losing weight for the past month and how that must be nice. They get a ekg and then place us in a second waiting room with all of these people who came in the same time as we did. Finally at 5 my dad came to releive me since I had to go to work today. At midnight they were finally put into an er bed, at 2:30 my dad left my mom at the er so he could get home aand get some rest. I just called my mom and they finally got her into a room at 3:15 this morning. After some rude er doc accused her of being depressed and taking a bed that is need by someone else. She says the staff is rude and the hospital is less than clean. I'm hopeing they do the test and let her go today. And let's top that off by the fact that my boyfriend who was suppose to call on sat didn't and I had to call him and then wait for him to return the call, he is in the Navy and had duty christmas day and said that he would call on sat, then before I got done talking to him when he did return my phone call said he would call Mon. never did.

| Michelle, I'm so sorry all of that happened with you and your family. I frequent the ER too much myself and can't stand it. I hope your mother get's a good diagnosis and starts feeling better soon. You sound like a great daughter, and I'm sure she is glad to have you! Even though I don't know you, I just want to thank you for taking care of your mom. I have a 13 year old daughter and she is the light of my life. I'm sure you are to your mom too. ((((((((hugs)))))))), Michele |

| Well there is one closer but we have delt with that nurologist(sp) before and he was that same as this er dr. saying she is depressed and wants attention. So we thought maybe this hospital would have been better. She's ok this morning. Her stomach dr was going to be coming by and running test, she very naic I see her to so atleast I can breath easy on that. And thankfully my dad is at home asleep and lil bear is cuddleing with him so he should be doing ok for a bit to. And I just sent the boyfriend a very very angry letter so I feel a bit better.

| Poor Michelle! You are such a good daughter! I hate the ER too. I think your mom needs a new doctor. No one should be treated the way she is being treated. Good luck with the boyfriend, too, honey. It looks like you are suffering a case of the "winter blues" for sure! Hope Moose and your mom are feeling better!

| Update Well mom was seen by a nurologist(sp) last night. He actually is near us but we haven't ever seen him before. My mom liked him and whe she said she wished her husband abd daughter could meet him he said well they will you are my patient now. He wants to get her off the meds that has caused the issue with her stomach that has made her stop eating and loseing the weight she has. Going to put her on a new med and see if it works. Mom seems optomistic but my dad and I are keeping pesimistic after 5 yrs and countless drs. I think until we see results we won't believe it. Don't know when she will be out of the hospital they want to get her stomach back in order and eating and keeping down solid foods first. My dad and lil bear and I want her home though, moose does too but since she has her mommy she's not as paniced as lil bear. and the boyfriend issue I posted on a seperate thread since I'm sure not everyone wants to read the rantings of a peeved girlfriend but just incase here is the link....http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26520

| Thanks so much for the update. Keep us up to date on your mom. I'm keeping her in my prayers. The human brain is so complex, and doctor's are not God. They too are human, but if you can find a good one, that's great. I hope she will get well soon, and you are such a wonderful daughter for taking care of her!! |

| I hope your mom gets better fast and can go back home. I've never heard of a doctor who wanted someone admitted to a hospital sending them to the er, though. That's a first for me. Here they have their nurse call the hospital and arrange the admittance from the doctor's office and the patient just shows up at the admittance office. That's pathetic what she had to go through. And they say the US has the greatest health care in the world! I suppose so, if you live long enough to get the care!

| This darn hospital keeps getting worse. The night mom was checked in there was an elderly lady in the room next to her's. They share bathrooms well my mom came into the bathroom to find the lady on the floor, my mom being a nurse at one point in her life was shocked that no one was attending to the lady who had apparently been calling for help. My mom went back to her call button and yelled for someone to come. When they did the nurse came to my mom thanked her and said yeah we know she was unstable but thought she could manage and we are understaffed due to the holidays. This morning my mom calls me paniced because the new lady that they placed in the other room was in the bathroom bent over trying to hold her packing in from her hystretomy(sp) there was blood on the floor and gauze on the floor too. My mom went to her call button and told them to get in asap. She went back to be with the lady to make sure a nurse came. While waiting the lady had said her nurse to her to go into the bathroom to get ready to have help getting the shower and the nurse would be right there..that was 20mins ago!!! When a nurse finally came mom said where is her nurse...oh she's sitting at the front desk My mom told the nurse it wasn't her job to take care of the people she is shareing a bathroom with. The nurse said well you know it's the holidays and we are short staffed, ok I will give them that but come on!! The nurse did pick up the guaze but just used a paper towel on the blood and smeared it. Mom told them to clean the bathroom. Apparently they didn't cause my mom went in to use it saw the blood still there an hr later and she cleaned it up...to which I told her that wasn't her job and it is dangerous. She is suppose to have a procedure this afternoon for her stomach, but they still haven't given her solid food like the dr had told them and last night gave her spicy tortia (sp) soup..get for a bad stomach we had discussed at one point me going there to have my surgery for the scar tissue from my appendix, since my work didn't give me the time off need to heal right, but there is no way I will go to this hospital

| Yeah Mom is getting discharged. I am soooo happy to be getting her out of that nightmare of a hospital. But since I called yesterday morning right after she told me the last helping story I called risk management and told them how unhappy and diturbed I was with the treatment. When I went to check on her last night the head of nursing just got through sayinshe had taken care of the problem, though they pick the moment she is comming back from sedation to talk to her. I walked in my mom told the lady who I was, she just stood there waiting for me to say something more than hello. After a min she says I am up here talk to your mom about her worries. and then wait again for my response...what did she want a parade thrown in her honor for fixing something that shouldn't have occured in the first place My dad and I are just happy she is comming home and I know lil bear will be thrilled to she needs her sleeping buddy as my dad calls it.

| I'm glad your mom gets to go home. Ya know, hospital stays shouldn't be so stressful, but health care in this country is going downhill fast.
