| My girls have moved back home I have always been fairly strict when it comes to my expectations of my kids. Well strict by todays standards. I see so many parents who allow their adult children to live at home, work part time, leave school and contribute nothing to their families well being. I insisted that both of my children had to do one of a few things, full time school, full time work and pay room and board or part time school and part time work and pitch in a small financial contribution. So they both left home in pursuit of greener pastures. This weekend they both moved home with the plan of going back to school. It has been a bit of an adjustment. After the girls moved my husband and I went and bought all new furniture. Within 10 minutes of being back home my youngest managed to scrape and scratch the table top of our brand new dining room. She dumped and pushed two very heavy boxes onto the table. Sigh---this is why we didnt replace our furniture until they moved. They were sweet enough and considerate enough to decide to share a room thereby allowing me to continue to keep a sewing room. I used to have the largest of the two bedrooms aside from the master as my sewing room but I gave that to the girls. I am now in the midst of an unholy amount of fabric, ribbon, buttons and all the other craft and sewing supplies. I figure it should take me a week to get back on track lol. Even though my table is ruined and chaos reigns for the next while I am so glad that they have decided to pursue an education. It was beyond difficult to stand by my beliefs when it meant my girls leaving home. Looks as if it has paid off though and that they will have a better life and a more fulfilling one than they would have had if we expected nothing of them. So its a happy and bittersweet day, I will miss my perfect dust and dirt free home but when they move the next time hopefully it will be because they are moving towards something better.

| Old English Scratch Cover for Wood will help disguise the scratches made on your BRAND NEW DINING ROOM TABLE!!!! UUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHH!!! When I went to college, we had to live on campus the first year....it may have been 2 years, I cant remember....guess that has all gone by the wayside these days????? I think I would seriously put the pencil to paper and see if it would be less expensive for ME to pay for a two bedroom appartment close to the campus where they will be going...at least your new furniture would probably appreciate it! |

| good luck to you, the girls have probably gotten pretty independent while on their own. I hope you set down rules and guidelines of what you expect. LOL if it was me, I would even have them sign like a contract. This way you have a leg to stand on if you see a fight starting to build. I watched from MI as my sister in NY moved back several times to my parents house while in between marriages. You are doing a nice thing and I hope your daughters realize it and try to keep peace in the house.

| Hi Tina I have an adult dd that moved back home a little while ago. She came back to get her bs in nursing. It has been interesting but for the most part a good experence. We just moved to a smaller house.. I gave her two of the smaller guess bedrooms and she made one into a "study". It was hard giving up so much space, and at times I get grumpy about her "messes" around the house. She is trying to do things my way, I grumble to myself... so its ok. I did have a few rules. One is no overnight "male" guest. She was not happy about that but hey..my house my rules. The other rule is no drinking and driving, and I need to know if she is staying at her girlfriends house etc. Oh.. and clean up after yourself!! Good luck to you, and I hope you enjoy the girls!!

| Tina21, You are an angel I would be with the person who suggested an apartment - but more like a small 1 bedroom with a place for two, people to study type of place - that said I would not make angel status I suppose. What's the Yorkie status in all these changes?

YT 2000 Club Member | I know how you feel! I have 4 children and 3 of the 4 have moved in and out since they finished high school. One still lives at home with a full time job and he is 19 yrs. My oldest son left for a few months and then came back until he got married. My youngest daughter has left and come back 2 times during a bad relationship and is now going to nursing school, raising 2 children and living on her own! The other one has come and gone. I have always left my doors open to my children when they needed it! We all do some adjusting and I always pray that they will find their way! I love the peace and quiet when our house is empty of children but also think about them daily! The world today is a different place, than when I grew up. I hope all settle in and your children truly appreciate you! Bless you for keeping the doors open!

| I was just thinking about this again, since two are moving home, I hope your girls don't fight, my sister and I are very close but we still fight hard and even loud and it is kind of funny. At 34 I brought my DH home for the first time as my BF and he did not know what to think, his family is quite, polite and reserved. My sister insists on falling asleep with the TV, (LOL no wonder she has been married three times) I was telling her no TV cause we were sharing a room, well I went out of the room to complain to "mommy" and she locked me out, so here I am at 34 pounding on the door screaming at her and yelling "Mommy, she locked me out of the room". It was like we were back in Jr High all over again.

| Well things are going well My oldest has started school again and has decided to become a vet tech something that she would be great at. I believe in picking a career that doesnt just provide an income but that also makes you happy and she loves animals. The youngest has an appointment made to meet with a counsellor to be assessed for mature student credits so that she too can start working towards an education and she wants to become a social worker. I am praying for both of them that they do well and stay the course. Chloe is loving having them home as its more people to give her the attention that she craves My oldest has been working on making an Etsy banner for me and its awesome! She will be creating the pages for me, I am making the bows and clothes and taking the pics. So nice to have them back now that we have settled in
