| Cruise Recommendations? So my siblings and I recently found out about a life insurance policy our parents took out in 1961. It's a very small policy, but it will be about $1600 or so a person between the 4 of us. Now our parents have been gone for several years- it will be 10 yrs next month for my dad and 17 years in March for my mom. This little policy was quite the surprise, so we decided it was a little gift from mom & dad and we should use the money to go on a vacation with just the 4 of us siblings. We're thinking a cruise sounds pretty good, but none of us have ever been on any. Does anyone have any good cruise lines they can recommend?

| Princess is geared for the older crowd, Celebrity is geared for the laid back 30+ crowd, Royal Caribbean is for everyone and Carnival is for the partiers. Those are the big ones. Where would you guys like to go and for how long?

| I'd love to do a Mediterranean cruise one day, but depending on where you are flying out of, airfare can be as much as the cruise! For $1600 each you can do a very nice cruise starting from the USA. We are doing Allure (royal) in march for $1300pp w air, and we got a balcony. First time for me to have a balcony! Oh also want to add, I agree don't like Carnival. Did Celebrity once, loved it! Food is so good. Royal is nice too, little cheaper than Celeb. Last edited by capt_noonie; 01-26-2013 at 10:10 AM. |

| This is the extent of MY knowledge on cruises and lines! I got this same information from our travel agent when we scheduled a cruise years ago. I am NOT a fan of cruises, dont like close quarters with thousand other people some sick with that Noro virus (?sp), I get horribly sea sick, in spite of all the pills and patches they give you for motiuon sickness. How sweet of your parents to surprise you with this "gift" after all these years! Makes you REALLY feel like they actually are, indeed, hanging all around you, kinda watching out for you! |

YT 2000 Club Member | We went on a princess cruise to Alaska. Loved it. Princess is the best line I think. Now I don't like to fly, so we took a train up to Oakland, bused over to San Francisco, spent the night there and took off on the cruise. Alaska is so gorgeous, if you have never done this one, do it. The ports are nice and clean, we saw glaciers, eagles, whales. I highly recommend this cruise. |

| i've only cruised on Carnival and Norwegian. i agree with the others that i wouldnt cruise with Carnival again. i did Love Norwegian though. My favorite cruises were to Alaska and to Hawaii, but have also done many carribean cruises and those were fun too .

| Cruise What about river cruises, US or Europe? Small boats, less people and no seasickness! What a nice surprise to have that windfall gift. |

| Ghetto partiers? LOL I've been on Carnival before, and it's not really like whoo hoo partay! It was more like drunkards running around everywhere. The funny thing is, I see on this cruise forum all the time, some people that don't seem "the type" and all their past cruises down in their siggy are ALL carnival! Isn't once enough? My dad's been on every major cruise line, and he said Carnival is the only one when you order more than one app or entree at dinner, the waiters try to talk you out of it or sigh and roll their eyes.

| Yeah, it's not a fun party it's a drunk-of-your-socks party... not interested in being around that AT ALL...especially at sea!! Come on people, what if there was an emergency and you're too drunk to wake up? :/ Do you think a crewmember is going to track you down and drag your drunk butt up? HA!

| Funny too how I"m just reading a thread on that forum about how they are worried about spring breakers on an early March cruise. I think that line has got the spring break mentality all the time!
