| I adore Danny Kaye! Hans Christian Andersen is one of my favourite old movies. Unfortunately, I don't get the TCM channel.

| Oh, I love old classic movies, B&W, technicolor, studio lighting, art direction and all the make-up/hair/fashions and dramatic lighting, romance, contemporaneous "antiques" that you see in them, etc., love it all! I love some of the Danny Kaye movies, especially the color ones when I'm in a silly or fanciful mood, love "Rear Window" with Jimmy Stewart, so many other of the classic mysteries, the color Doris Day romances, the 40's war movies, the old Christmas classics, well, really so so many of them. TCM and AMC used to be on all the time but when AMC went more modern and got commercials, not it much anymore. What was that very first classic movie channel, before either of those? I heard about it and wanted it so bad but my service didn't carry it, then we got it just before it closed or TCM or somebody bought it. I remember seeing Danny Kaye's "Hans Christian Anderson" for the first time and thought it was so good, such a sweet movie, loved the ballerina he loved as I wanted to be one growing up, wanted to go to "Copenhagen" after hearing him sing the song. I hope cable and satellite never stop showing the "oldies and the goodies"!

| We lived in Copenhagen for 18 months while my daddy started up an oil company subsiderary for Getty Oil....Dansk Veedol. During our time there, we toured everything....and went to see the village where Han Christen Anderson grew up....his cottage and everything...The Little Mermaid, the Heinekin Brewery, with the two HUGE (seems like well over 150 feet tall) Heinekin (sp) bottles that are on either side of the port....all the castles, all the beautiful, kind, people on beautiful quaint farms....thanks for the memories daddy.........such sweet memories of a wonderful, lovely country. (Y'all forgive my atrocious spelling...I dont know what this flu has done to my brain....hypoxia, I guess....and I have a sty on my eye so I cant even type the letters I am trying to hit!!!) | One of our ports was Copenhagen - I still can't believe how small The Little Mermaid statue is!

Since I last posted on this thread I've been singing, "Thumbelina, Thumbelina, tiny little thing. Thumbelina dance! Thumbelina sing! Thumbelina, what's the difference if you're very small, when your heart is full of love you're nine feet tall!!!" now, it's stuck in my head on repeat, as it's the only part I remember

| You mean their commercials for movies they are going to show or just love all commercials they show?

| The commercials related to TCM that they show in between movies...not just of the movies they're about to show/regular ol' adverts

| Maybe "promos" would have been a better term to use

| Oh, that's what confused me when you said that about AMC commercials, which I thought were just regular old commercials. I love the TCM commercials so much and those special montages of movie scenes to songs or just the old original trailers worked into commercials. It is such an escape channel for me - just go back to another age and watch two or three movies in a row. It's like the other world of today goes away for a while. I even started watching movies from the early and mid 1930's last year sometimes! Some of the stories are very good, real drama, only some over badly overacted/directed.

"Old/classic" movies are so, so good. We get so caught up in today's media and society. I do too, just like everyone else (I hope!). Sometimes when I watch them from the 30s, 40s, etc I get so surprised on the topics that they touch. It's controversial today so I can only imagine what it was back then! (Or was it...? )
