| Flu shot Lets talk flu shot! How do you feel about them? Do you get one or not and why? I have not gotten the flu shot sense they mixed the swine flu shot in with the regular shot because I worry they don't know any bad things that it could cause to the body in like 10 years. If you do get your flu shot do you go to the doctor or get it done at like CVS? When I got my prescription at CVS the other day they had an thing on the bag that said the needle was like 90% smaller does any one have experience with that? With my health problems I think I should get one but I just really don't want too. I hate shots and needles.

| I don't get the flu shot... I'm not really into getting unnecessary vaccinations. I am the same way with my pups.

| I don't get it anymore. The last few years a different strain of flu hit than the one they were expecting and were vaccinating against.

| I got the flu shot several years ago, and I was sicker that season than I ever was, so I have not gotten one since. I'm sure it's improved since then though. They had on our news that there is a big push for EVERYONE to get a flu shot, and sure enough my dr asked me if I wanted one the last time I was there. I declined. Is it shingles they're also pushing vaccinations for? And now with this steroid shot that was tainted with meninigitis? It's just scary to me. I support it for the people who need it for health issues, but for now, I'm passing.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I do and I love it! Sometime in my 40's I started getting what I thought were really bad colds, they would turn into bronchitis and even pneumonia, I was often sick for months. Turns out these weren't colds, they were the flu, I guess I thought flu involved the stomach not the lungs. If your “cold” involves achy bones, it’s the flu. Anyway, since I've been getting them, I haven't had the flu and now I can plan Thanksgiving and Christmas without worrying about being sick for them. My advice is don’t get them if you don’t ever get the flu, skip the shots, but remember as you get older your immune system isn’t as strong. For me, it's been a real godsend.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I don't get the flu shot. We are putting to much into our bodies. Things are crazy. . . Use anti bacterial soap, don't eat raw ground meat, eggs. ... . . . I was a kid you wash everything with soap and water. When we made meatballs, we ate the raw meat(with the raw egg) to taste for seasoning (we also just liked to eated it lol). I still do the same thing. I try to eat healthy. We grow our own organic food. (I love to go out and graze through the garden, not washing anything.) I try to get grass fed beef and fresh eggs (but not always available ). But I still go to the market for stuff. I think we are antibacterial everything which is not good. And people are just getting sick because of it. Maybe it is just me. |

Twenty-three thousand people are dying each year when this could have easily been prevented. While I'm not suggesting that everyone get a flu shot, I hope that people who are in the target group aren't afraid to get the shot because of some of the stuff written.

| I've never gotten a flu shot, but probably would if I ever had the flu again I had it once and it took weeks to get better, but since then I never get it, even if my whole house has it With all the health problems I have, you'd think that I would be the first one down with it,but it never happens.

| My Mother in law is older and gets it every year and she gets sick alot but you dont know what the severity would be if she didnt get it. If I was elderly or had health problems I would get it I just havent so far and dont get the flu so why mess with something thAt isnt a problem is how I see it. When swine flu was going around I considered it I just didnt get around to it I did get it for my daughter though. There is alot of controversy of getting the HPV shot to preteen girls to prevent cervical cancer also. I talked to my daughters doctor in detail about my concerns or things I heard about the shot and in the end I had her get it and dont regret it

| I have a two year old, that doesn't eat food ( long story ) he survives mostly on pedia sure like 7 to 8 bottles a day. We are trying to prevent having to put a feeding tube in. Anyway his pediatrician recommend that he get the flu shot and also that everyone in our household get it. She cautioned us that if he ever gets sick we will be in trouble, because he doesn't have the fat reserves etc. of a "regular" two year old and that we would end up in the hospital with IV's and a feeding tube. We've had a few close calls so we follow her recommendations. We are also fortunate that everyone close to us family, church members etc. that know what's going on with him also take the shot and are careful not to come around him if they are sick. I just wish more people would be that considerate. I've had complete strangers walk up to him and want to shake his hands talk etc, when they are clearly ill. We all keep sanitizer on us and as soon as people touch his hands and turn away we break it out. I never want to be rude but I really don't think people think sometimes about other people's health.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | [QUOTE=Nancy1999;4029073]Flu has nothing to do with raw meat or eggs and first you say use antibacterial soap and then you say, we use too much. Flu is from a virus not bateria. I think you might be thinking of "stomach flu" and the shots aren't for this. As I said earlier, I use to think this too. My point was that they are trying to stop everything with shots, antibacterial etc. we are losing the ability to fight whether it is a virus or a bacteria. I have not done a lot of this and I have not had the flu. My biggest thing is allergies. |
