| PCSing? So, a childhood friend announced on Facebook that they're having to PCS from Dayton (which is like an hour from our hometown) to California near the start of the new year. I mentioned this to my Sir, and he mentions that his whatevertheyrecalled sent a job offer for Ft. Meyers, FL last week or so. I'm thinking no big deal-he's an Aspie and a homebody, and his kids are in SC, so he's not going to want to move. Apparenly it's a competitive job, they're taking four bids from 2 different agencies....except his whatevertheyrecalled didnt get anyone interested in the job so she emailed them back Friday demanding to know why they can't go to Ft Meyers. He's got no reason not to go. He doesnt really want to go-it's an administrative job with a lot of shoulder rubbing required, but he's been wanting a promotion, and this would probably be the way to get it. Unfortunately, it'd mean I'd probably have to go to a lot of functions as well. I've never really been around that sort of culture before-I hear being 'an officer's wife' is quite the experience. Now, we arent married and arent planning on it, but if he took this job i'd be stuck in that roll. He gets around it here, because he's got a teaching job at the hospital and sees patients, so his rank isnt as big of a deal as it would be if he took (or got forced into) this new job. I'm just now settling into GA life after moving here from Michigan last winter. I've got good friends, close friends, we're arranging the house to feel more like home...and I am NOT a heat loving gal with a beach body. GA was culture shock and temperature shock enough. I do NOT want to move to FL!

| Im sorry... I didn't want to move to Miami 25 years ago and I am still here. Still don't like it but being with my family wins out Ft Meyers is nice.. you may like it more then Ga. It is not really "southern" because so many people move down from the North. It has beautiful beaches and small towns. Good luck
