Present Please share your favorite Christmas Cookie Recipe!

Hey, all! I have decided to make Christmas Cookies as presents this year, so if you have a favorite recipe you would like to share, please do!

Thanks so much, and let's have some fun with this! If you have a story behind the cookies, please share that too! (passed down for generations, a mistake that turned out great, etc.)

Wosie and I are looking forward to drooling over your recipes!

I'm baking sugar cookies right now! Just had to take a little break. LOL

I'll get back on here later with recipes...I already have them on my computer, so it'll be easy to do. I make all kinds of goodies for Christmas!

Cinnamon Spice Butter Cookies

1 cup of Butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Glaze Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon of Butter, softened
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
Food color, if desired
Decorator candies, sugars, etc., if desired

Combine 1 cup butter, sugar and egg in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, until creamy. Add orange juice and 1 tablespoon vanilla. Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Reduce speed to low. Add flour, baking powder and cinnamon; beat, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.

Divide dough in thirds. Shape each third into a ball. Wrap in plastic food wrap; flatten to 1/2 inch. Refrigerate until firm (2 to 3 hours).

Heat oven to 400°F. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface, one-third at a time (keeping remaining dough refrigerated), to 1/8 to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with 2-inch cookie cutters. Place 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 6 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool completely.

Combine powdered sugar, water, 1 tablespoon butter, corn syrup and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in small bowl; mix until powdered sugar is moistened. Beat at medium speed until smooth, adding additional water if necessary, to reach desired glazing consistency. Tint with food color, if desired.

Glaze cooled cookies. Add decorator candies, if desired. Let stand until hardened (6 hours or overnight).

This should get you 3 dozen cookies!

The thing is, you can put anything in these. They are the size of biscuits!! that's why they are called Monster cookies. Caution, the batter is very very thick and when given to people can cause mass hysteria to get as many as they can. LOL yes this happens whenever I make them. My daughter brought them to school and I refused to give the recipe, and the teacher got mad! LOL

This fudge recipe is sooooo easy and people who have tasted it, request it, and those that taste it for the first time want the recipe. I have gotten so many compliements on my fudge...try it...you and yours will love it!!! It is sooooo creamy and good!

Fanny Farmer Fudge

Bring to boil: 4 1/2 cups sugar, 1 tall can Carnation milk. Boil for 6 minutes; remove from heat and add: 3 cups chocolate chips, 1/2 lb. butter, 3 tsp. vanilla. Beat until creamy and add 3 cups chopped walnuts. Pour into buttered 9X13 pan. Can use as frosting for cake…omit nuts.

(I've started using part semi-choc chips and part milk choc chips and I think I like it that way.)
(If you make it and it seems runny when you pour it in the pan, do not worry...it takes time, but it will set!)

Cup Date Nut Rocks....

Passed to me from my grandmother, when I found out what was in them I was surprised and shocked that I love them! If you like coffee, they go great together.

1/2 C oleo (margarine works fine) 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 C brown sugar 1/4 C cold coffee
1 egg 1 C dates
1 3/4 C flour 1/2 c pecans
1/2 tsp nutmeg

Cream oleo; add sugar and mix. Add egg, flour and coffee (small amounts at a time). Fold in chopped dates and nuts. Chill 1 hour. Drop spoonful of dough (desired size) onto cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees 8-10 minutes.

Default I don't bake much, but...

I made these last year, and this one was really easy and the presentation was awesome! I made them large and put them in a celephane (sp) bag and tied with a holiday bow. They looked as pretty as they were tasty!

Start with Connie's sugar cookie recipe above. (Okay I admit - I started with slice and bake, but you could just as easily buy them already baked!)

TURTLE COOKIES
Sugar Cookies
1 Bag Chocolate morsels
1 Bag Kraft Caramels
1 Bag Pecan Halves

Toast the pecans. Melt the chocolate and the caramels separately. Spoon a dallop of the caramel then a dallop of the chocolate on top of the baked sugar cookie and immediately put pecan half in warm center. Let set until chocolate and caramel harden.
