| any one heard of the moose lodge? My bro in law and his wife were invited to join by her mom's friend. They have asked to join once they do. They checked it out on one of their bingo nights and kinda liked it. My dh thinks it would be good to join so we could get out with other people more. I do not know if my anxiety about being with strangers is the reason but some red flags are waving at me. 1. One of the things that you are suppose to do as a member is keep recruiting others. I hate this just as i hate people coming to my door to sell things 2. The women are in an auxiliary as the women of the moose. It makes me think that the women are not as important or as my mom said, the women do all the work behind the scenes and the men get the credit. 3. The school and retirement communities sound weird almost like a compound to me. These are their charities. 4. something was mentioned about a privacy policy. Not sure i want to be a part of something where they want some activities private. If anyone here is a part of this sorry if i offended you. I just want some opinions. Dh said up to me. It would be nice for him as they have a pool (he loves to float in a pool, i am scared of the water) and they have organized motorcycle rides (he rides, i do not though he said he would rather not ride as a group except on the toy runs at christmas. You guys usually tell me what you think. So let me hear it. |

| Well Im sure they are all different but the one here it is a place for women to go to meet men married and other wise. I dont think vey much of it because My sister in law had an affair with a man there. No one told the brother in law about it because they are both jerky type of people anyway. She still goes there and never includes him

| Moose Lodge... We have one here in this area, but I do not belong. It seems harmless to me. We have been having our high school reunion committee meetings there and it has been comfortable and friendly.

| I have several friends who are members. While I've gone before and it does support manu great charities IMO its a private drinking club. Their Sunday breakfast is decent.

| I thought of the drinking part. We do not drink (dh does on new years only) and my bil said they smoke inside. Dh has severe asthma and it makes me sick. So i think i am def voting no.

| I hope I didnt give you a bad impression of all moose lodges because like I said they all have different groups of people. I just dont think highly of ours because my sister in law goes there and she is a god awful terrible type of person. Everybody in the family knows about the indescretion she had with a man there and the only reason why her husband doesnt know is it would just hurt him she knows we all know and they are only married in name only just raisng their daughter together. It is pretty sad for Sam and the daughter

| Chachi: Your message just gave me another reason to point out to dh that it would not be best for us. While i am sure he would not cheat and he knows i will not do not like an atmosphere where it could happen. I would rather spend the money (though not a lot) each year on other things. I would rather take a class or something. If dh wants to join, i will join with him so i can go at times. I have anxiety attacks when around a lot of people, esp if i do not know them well. For some reason, it just does not set well with me. something is nagging at me about them. I told dh the quote (i think from Mark Twain) about how he would not want to belong to a club that would take him as a member.

Personally I know a few members who only go to meetings and events while a majority...well they pay a whole lot of extra dues at the bar. I attended a wedding in one a couple years ago and the stench of smoke made many people sick and I ended up taking my kids outside immediately after entering. It had been closed for 2 days the smell just says and seeps into everything. Very gross. Honestly after going to 4 different Moose and Elk lodges they were all the same. Not my cup of tea.

| Oh good Lord, I practically grew up in a Moose Lodge, American Legion, and VFW. My mom and step dad are both alcoholics I remember crying, wanting to go home and go to sleep, and they would just say "have another coke" and ignore us kids They do a lot of charity work, yes, but a lot of drinking mostly. And yes, they do smoke in most of them. Gee I wonder why I grew up to become a smoker and a diabetic? I'm sure there are other organizations that could use some nice new members such as yourselves
