| Foot in mouth.. The other day, my husband took me to the local humane society. It's my idea of a fun date because I get to see the animals, play with them, and socialize with them. I know, I'm really weird. But anywho, after we were done, we were walking out and I was talking with one of the workers who was telling me about their fund raisers they were doing and what not, just general animal chit-chat, when a women came in with the cat and was going on and on about how this is year five and she can' t keep, "The damn thing.." and making a fool out of herself. Meanwhile, this cat looked terrified in it's crate, I'm not a cat person but I felt for the poor thing. Well the humane society worker tried to explain to her that there's a $25 cash drop off fee, and if she didn't want to drop the cat off here, then she could give her to a kill shelter where she would most likely be euthanized, or surrender her to a local rescue. Well the women blew a gasket going on and on about how she doesn't have $25 dollars and that this cat has cost her enough. Well, I went outside with my husband to look at the horses and literally vented about how if you can't afford an animal, what's the point of getting one, and that you're their voice. How stupid people have become, and how much I like animals better than humans (I was in a real B*tchy mood). Well I said this right in front of a younger guy and his daughter. They just kind of looked at me and turned around. Well I noticed the woman came flying out of the office, with cat carrier in hand and met up with the young man and his daughter and they all got in the car together. Oops...

Yup, the cat was still in the carrier. When the told her the fee was $25 cash, the women reached into her bra and pulled out cash, which to me is just...Trashy. No offense to anyone here that does that, but it is trashy, digging around in your bra to pull up a wad of singles.

| Why do people who don't love animals and aren't cat-and-dog-lovers get animals in the first place? If you aren't prepared to make that little living, breathing, thinking, loving creature a member of your family, why not just get a painting for the living room or a knick-knack for the den? That cat has no doubt come to love those three people, love his home & feel comfortable there, rely on those people as its very own family. Probably waits expectantly for them to come home, stroke his fur, toss a ball or cuddle with him. Now it gets stuck in a carrier & carted around like old clothes to cast off wherever one can find a dumping spot?!?! I wonder what the little cat is thinking as he's going through all of this? I wonder how much apprehension, sadness, fear & confusion is holding his little heart hostage? I wonder if he knows he's being tossed like an old shoe? When he finally gets successfully scrapped, if he's still alive, I wonder how long he will miss & worry about where his family has gone? So why do they get them in the first place?

| Yes, sometimes people do need to hear the truth. It is hard for some people to understand that and they think the person speaking it is harsh when in reality the person is perhaps doing the other person a favor. Hopefully the woman went away upset and the words might hit home later. Never know. But it sure beats praising her because then she learns nothing.

| Sometimes we see this on YT as well. It's hard not to say something when we see bad pet parenting going on. I really want to cry for the dogs in those circumstances.
