I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | This is so sick, I'm so angry about this. The teacher should be fired, and maybe all classrooms need to be videotaped so this type of abuse won't ever happen. Good for the dad, but it just so horrible to think a special needs teacher would say those things to the child, obviously she hated the child, and they can sense that.

| The teacher should be fired. There should be security cameras in all classrooms, especially those with special needs students. |

| This is a subject very close to my heart. My son, who has autism, has been in our school system since he was 3-1/2... he will be 12 in a few months. Very long story short, I ended up volunteering in his classes to keep an eye on what was happening. As he got older, I required daily communication from teachers; but still had to step in on more occasions than I should have had too... even to the point of changing teachers mid-year during 1st grade. As parents, we are their most powerful advocate... I became involved in the schools he has attended and became friendly with teachers and staff, but I always reminded them during IEP meetings that I would be holding them accountable.

| This is a subject close to my heart too, but from a different prospective - being a special education teacher for 27 years. I have to say the audio made me cry. Absolutely no excuse and the teacher should also be fired, in my opinion. Good for the Dad for being proactive.

| Ok, I am a teacher and I am a mom to a special needs child. This teacher should be fired. I totally agree. This video is terrible. But don't think that all teachers are like that. First let me say there are many many special ed teachers who are PRECIOUS! They love their kids and are wonderful to them. Also I teach in a district where it is not uncommon for any member of administration to be outside your door listening or even walking in your classroom. If you have nothing to hide, this isn't a problem. So please don't think all are like this. The teacher and the administration are to blame in my opinion. Second, as a mom of a special needs child, I have personally had to raise the roof a few times. When my son was in elementary school all was well. 3rd and 4th grade was hell. The teacher was, for lack of better words, an idiot. Then all went well for 5th grade. Then 6th grade came along. And we had a principal who was the idiot. My son is nonverbal and they gave my child "swats" over tearing up a book. Well, the mommy hat came on and I went completely psycho. I am really not kidding. Then I changed districts and my son finished his school career at this last school. With the most AMAZING teachers ever!! They treated him just like anyone else. And I was blessed to have them. To make a long story short, as a mom I would be on this teacher like white on rice. As a teacher and mom, please know that there are many caring and compassionate special ed teachers that have a lot to offer. I hope they remove this teacher and find one that can give this child the attention and love that is deserved.

| They should be treated the same way they are treating the child. Number one thing in my classroom is we respect each other. Treat me like you want to be treated. That teacher and aide needs to think about that.

I am a teacher for children with autism (10 years) and I wasn't going to touch this thread with a 10ft. pole but I completely agree with everything you said. This is VERY uncommon and most teachers are there because they LOVE what they do. I work with the best teachers ever and I am so proud of what I do and who I work with. This is an unusual circumstance. Bless all the teachers out there because we have an extremely difficult job that is very wearing. Great post and great to hear the perspective from a mother and a teacher. You go girl!!!
