| finally did what my own mom suggested Ok i finally broke down and bought a wig. The pic is the first one. It did not fit good and I am not used to longer hair. I have a lot of bald spots and very thin hair and have for a long time. A friend suggested a place that had good prices on wigs and she gets them there. I went back and bought the one in the pic. it fits great and most say it looks more my style. I am wondering if anyone here wears a wig (and will admit it) and will give me pointers. I did have a un-pc question for the clerk. Is there a difference between the wigs geared to african americans as opposed to caucasions. The new one is advertised as african american wig. I love it. I do not have a problem with it. Clerk sd no difference and websites say just the cap color and the wig colors are darkeer. Wondering if some coworkers might say something. Will find out in about an hr. The color I got is a dark brown with a lot of red highlights. what do you guys think?

| Thanks that is me and hubby in the first pic. The prob is i have went years with very little hair. see pic on this post. I am on the right in that pic with my dh and my parents. the 2nd one is the new wig. it is more comfortable and i will still wear the other wig at times. You should have seen and heard my coworkers when i walked in the first time with a wig. the last pic is not a good one. I think it looks better in person. i take lousy pics with my phone. My mom and dh loved me in the new one btw. dh helped pick it

| Thank you. It was a hard decision. I finally decided enough was enough. I had to keep my hair that i had very very short due to the thinness. I looked like i had been having chemo. I saw a wig place in the local farmers market and tried one on and fell in love, esp with the look in dh's eyes. I thought he was gonna cry. But..they wanted $155 for it. no way. So a coworker told me where she goes. Got the wigs for about 40 a piece. i can afford that. I care too much about what people think. so it is a difficult to make changes for me. I knew I could post here and get honest opinions. Thanks. Who knows what i will look like next. One thing, my sis and dh's little sis both sd "looks like you, like something you would do" about the color. Not really sure how to take that. LOL

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | We use to wear wigs and hair pieces all the time in the 70's and I loved it. This was before wash and wear hairstyles, so it made lots of sense. The main tip I have is while synthetic wigs can look very natural, do know wear them and open an oven door. Lol, your hair will instantly crisp! I ruined one of my favorite short hair wigs at the time. I think both of the wigs look very natural, I do love the punky type look of the second one, it has a real edge and is very stylish. It use to be alot easier to find wigs too, nearly all the depart stores carried them, now I think you have to go to a specility shop, otherwise I'd have one!

| The shop I have been going to is very nice. Very helpful clerks. I did ask my coworker if they were mostly for ethnic groups (not pc i know). Most I had seen online seemed to be geared that way. She told me every race went there. So made hubby go with me. I have been looking online a lot also. The first wig I tried on was a big NO. looked like church lady hair if any one knows what i mean. Very southern church lady hair. Not for me. Jim told them they would prob see a lot of me. My friend says she has a lot of wigs. she seems to wear one for about 2 wks then change to another one for a while. told hubby to build me a shelf for them. He wants me to get a long one with waves. Hmmm not sure about that one. Will make him pay for it.

| update: at work Most people loved the red hair. One of my best friends loved th color but not the style. Another co worker liked the style but not the color. I would love to get that color combination in other styles. I think it was a hit. Thanks for all your support and comments. They helped make me feel good. BTW, when i got the first wig, my dh said i seemed more confident and a bit sassy. I guess feeling like you look good, makes a big difference.

| You made a really great decision with the one you picked, the style AND color work well with you. It looks very natural. Great thing about a wig, you can change your "do" instantly!
