| Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close; and other movie reviews I saw Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close last night... it's "says" starring Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock but honestly, the kid stole the show. He basically held the movie by himself, Tom and Sandra only being in all of 25-35 minutes or so of film time. I thought it was amazing. So incredibly powerful, made me well up and cry at times, but I still laughed at others. Oskar (by Thomas Horn) was done so well. It's said he had aspergers's syndrome and I know a 12 year old who has this and I thought the portrayal of a child with it was spot on. I read the book last year too and thought they did a great job, they did not leave a whole lot out. Overall, VERY powerful movie and I suggest going to see it!! Last week, I saw We Bought a Zoo and also LOVED it! Very cute and inspiring. Matt Damon was great, as always, but it's nice to see him in a "family" role for a change and I think he did a great job of it. I actually liked that it was more focused on the people over the animals because I can't handle sadness when it comes to animals, LOL, so was really glad they did not really touch on the subject TOO much. I liked the father/son relationship between Matt Damon and the kid. Ok, one more! The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. INTENSE!! But I loved it. It kept me guessing and questioning and not knowing what was going to happen next. The lead girl actor was incredible... she really needs to win an Oscar for her performance. Of course the rape scene was incredibly hard to watch but I just can't even believe how great of a job she did. Bascially.. it's a pretty dark movie, so if you don't like sex, cuss words, and just plain darkness, don't watch it, but I'd suggest it for anyone who can appreciate raw talent and fantastic cinematography.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I really want to see Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - it looks so good! Thanks for the review. Over the holidays, we saw Hugo...and I felt it was just okay...not fab; it was very slow for both of us. But critically, it's being raved about.

| Brit, I'm glad to hear that you liked "Girl" and have been wanting to see it since it came out. DH is hard to rope into going to the movies unless he wants to see a certain one. I'm like you when it comes to animals and movies! Pictures like "War Horse" would have me bawling in the theatre (for some reason, Spielburg movies tend to do this to me, like E.T.) I can't even watch tv comercials for the Humane Society without crying. |

Since you're sensitive to movies...do not see True Grit. I'm mentioning this one bc I just saw it about 6mths ago, and I burst into tears and was sobbing after a certain scene that involved a horse. I wish I'd never seen that part.

| I had the misfortune of seeing True Grit as well. Water for Elephants is another one to avoid. I was in tears for the elephant, and the other animals. Thank you for the movie reviews Brit! Your reviews have proved to be more reliable for me than the pros.

| Extremely Loud an dIncredibly Close Just saw Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and thought it was the best movie I have seen in years. It hit me really hard and was extremely emotional, but an amazing story. The boy who played the lead role was terrific. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Brit, Have you seen the originals to The Girl with Dragon Tattoo? I watched them all last year when they came out periodically. I can't remember what language they are in, But I watched the ones with the English translation. There are 3 movies total. ALL of them are sooooo good!!!!

You know that young boy was never an actor before -he was discovered on children's Jeopardy! The movie is up for Best Picture at the Oscars - and the guy who played the one who never spoke, he is up for best supporting actor.
