| He finally let me touch him!!!! I have been having an adult Persian cat named Miles for 8 months now. I bought him when he was a year old and he was so scared of me. In my opinion, I think he was abused. But now he is with me!!! and there is nothing scary about that..lol Well for the past 7 months he would never let me go near him or anything. If he saw someone, he would run and hide. Well for the past month he has been coming out and playing with Caesar(my yorkie). TODAY, MILES WAS LAYING ON MY BED......AND I WENT TO PET HIM!!!! (I DIDN'T THINK THAT HE WAS GOING TO LET ME, HE USUALLY RUNS OFF WHEN HE SEES ME) BUT HE WAS STILL AND CALM -----HE LET ME PET HIM AND HE STARTED PURRING!!!!!!!!! OMG I AM SOOO EXCITED!!!!! I JUST HAD TO TELL YALL ABOUT THIS MOMENT!!! He is kinda like a puppymill dog...............If that can explain it???? |

| Seven months, wow, you are certainly patient! That is great that he is coming out of his shell. He will probably be curled up by you before long. I am very happy for you and for him. Sounds like you are just what he needed.

| Thats great im glad hes trusting you now. We have had a stray cat for two years and would run every time we came out the door . I would always leave food out for him but when I would walk up to him he wood run in the woods. well this year he got enought trust up to let me touch him and then he ran. each time he would let me pet him a little more and I noticed if I walked up to him he would run, but if I would sit on the ground he would come running . so now every time he sees me out he runs to greet me. He loves me now and rubs all over me and sits on my lap.heres a picture of him. |

| Yeah, You gave him exactly what he needed his space and enough time to trust you. Just keep giving him his space and whenever you can pet him and tell him how beautiful of a cat he truely is!!!! I love persians. I have a customer who comes in every saturday with her calico Persian and it gives me kitty kisses and last time it even play swatted me. It was funny because the mom was like "claws in." I thought it was adorable. usually the cat would just sit in her carrier and let me pet her and rub her underneath her chin. it's funny cause she kinda snorts.(because of her flat face.) Persians are so beautiful. Bless your heart for taking her in and having patience. My mom when I was younger tried doing that same thing, but after so long got sick of not seeing the cat and ended up giving her away. I don't remember if she took her to a shelter or gave her to someone. But I can only hope that she gave her to someone like you. Last edited by mylittletigger; 11-30-2005 at 10:50 PM. |

| He is beautiful!!! I had a Persian "Maxx" but passed away 3 years ago. I had him since he was a baby. We sure do miss him!! They can be finicky about affection. He is in cat heaven now. I am happy that he came around so he can get lots of love.

Yes but they have very long hair and when people are allergic to cats it's usually due to the dander which comes from their bacteria in their mouth. it gets spread onto the coat when the cat licks itself and considering persians are long coated and need to be brushed almost daily to prevent tangles, I don't think that they would necessarily be the best cat to get. Sorry. Here is a good web site for more information: http://www.cfa.org/breeds/profiles/persian.html Last edited by mylittletigger; 12-01-2005 at 08:20 AM. | |
