Thor's Human Donating Member | It's January! Time to unzip the fat suit! Greetings, my lovely and fabulous YTers! It's a new year, which means new resolutions to get fit and lose weight! We at YT got some good mojo going last year with the Skinny Yorkie Mommies mini-community. I lost about twenty pounds, and then I moved to New York for work, and kind of stopped paying attention. I think I've kept most of the weight off though. Soooooooooo, my next goal is to lose another twenty pounds. Here's my strategy: - COOK MORE, and keep learning to cook. I feel like it's important to work on a tangential skill while you lose weight, because unlike so many other things, you can lose ALL your progress on weight loss. You can gain back all the weight, and lose all your fitness. This is very discouraging, so I think it's important to develop another skill that will stay with you no matter what. - Start posting to Skinny Yorkie Mommies again. - Look at old pictures of myself. Every so often someone posts a picture on FaceBook from a few years ago, and man, I was SKINNY. - Read inspirational books (I loved Born Round by the NYTimes food critic - he lost 100 pounds, and he eats for a living!) - Start taking Tai Chi. - Take measurements weekly. Okay, so what about YOU? What's going to make this your skinniest year ever? I hope some of you will join me again on Skinny Yorkie Mommies (link in my siggy).

| Ok I've been guilty of skipping out on the group I'm coming back. I don't need to lose weight, but definitely need to get in shape and be healthy :P my goal: 10k or longer entry in the Bluenose Marathon this summer, I'd love to make it to the half, but something tells me thats toooo ambitious. And to not die in the new yoga classes I started today, they are more advanced than the usual, and I ache and pain in places I didn't know existed. My goal, loose about 5lb of fat, and gain 5-10lb in solid muscle. I may still be my skinny high school self, but there is absolutely no tone anywhere on my body, and each year it's getting harder and harder to maintain.

| I have been doing really well. I lost 25 pounds and am very happy with my current weight. I was counting calories for about 6 months to lose the weight and have been able to maintain it (even through the holidays!) by just knowing how much I can eat. I hope to be able to maintain this weight or 10-ish pounds lighter for the rest of my life.

| I'm also trying to lose weight and eat healthier. I have been trying to count calories but I have so much to learn. I have done low carb before and know that well but this calorie thing is harder. Healthier too - I love fruit and veggies. I would love to have an online support group. :>)

| I started using a personal trainer in November ~ to that I added Pilates one night a week. Tomorrow I start a 545 am 'boot camp' kind of thing. Not sure how long that will last - but it's about the only time I have during swim season. I'll try to check in on Skinny Yorkie Mommies!

| Okay guys... I'm joining. I used to say I hated when my girl friends would try like crazy to lose weight before their wedding and became obsessed with it, and I told my fiance to slap me back to reality if I ever told him I needed to lose weight for our wedding! Well, now I want to lose weight for our wedding. But not just for our wedding. I used to be skinny, and now I think my metabolism has slowed down in the past couple of years. On Saturday I went shopping and I found a great deal on a cute dress from Guess... and I couldn't even zip it up I'm starting to feel like a slob and my self-esteem is going down the drain. I would like to lose 5-10 lbs by June (wedding is July). I am going to make an effort to make healthy lunches at night, so I'm not rushing and just throwing in something unhealthy in the morning! We rarely eat out, but I want to cook healthier options at home. I need to start planning meals well in advance. As for exercise, I need to remember to wear my kinetic activity monitor I got at work. On top of monetary motivation (depending on how many points we get, the company will put money into our wellness account which goes towards us purchasing gym memberships, home gym equipment, etc), it's also interesting to see how much or how little I'm doing by the end of each day. Over the holidays I thought I was lazing around and I got about 15-20 points per day. My first day back at work, I only got 4 points by the time I got home from work When the weather is warmer, I want to get outside more and take the dogs for walks too. For now, I want to start doing my Zumba game more often on Wii. It's a great workout, and it's fun!

| I'm in! I would love to get back in shape I need to lose about 15-20 lbs and get fit. I love to garden and when DH was injured last year I stayed by his side and let everything go including myself. I really miss all the energy I use to have. Wow I just realized I sound 108! I'm too young to feel this dang old! I'd love YTer's motivation and education on staying healthy.

| I've gotta give it up to anyone taking on a weight loss program. I watched my Sister gain weight until she was almost 100lbs over. She finally came to her senses and started to loose. Was a long battle. She finally over came by going to mostly fruits. It was amazing to see the change in such a short period of time! Good luck! |
