| Venting about theft My husband's grandmother passed away on 12/27 they are located near Seattle, WA. My husband and his sister flew out on 12/29 and returned late last night about 10pm. They each had a carry on, but the flight from Detroit to Fort Wayne was on a smaller plane and they made them check in their carry-on's at the gate. When he went to unpack this am, he noticed his government issued Blackberry and his brand new Ipad had been taken out of the front pocket. He called and filed a complaint/claim on line but the airline is pretty much saying "sorry for your loss". He didn't loose the items, they were taken out of his zipped bag. I told him I couldn't believe he left the items in the pocket and he said he didn't think anything about it since the flight was only about 30 min. Anyone ever had this happen, and if so did the airline do anything for you? The Ipad does have a GPS on it, but it was turned off and is password protected, so unless the theif figures out the password, they will never connect to wifi which would allow us to take its whereabouts.

| I have never had anything taken while flying. However, I have had my personal stuff stolen. I just want to say I am sorry because it just sucks to have it happen. Hopefully they will turn it on and get caught.

| That's too bad that his things were stolen. If I were him, I would file a police report. On the subject of theft, our house was just broken into while we were out of town (we still are), and thankfully our alarm went off. We still don't know if anything is missing, but we will find out tomorrow when we get home

| TraciG: How upsetting to have this happen, especially on a trip to attend a funeral for a family member. Michelle: Thank goodness you have an alarm system. It must be frustrating to be far from home. I hope everything turns out okay.

| I close my luggage with tiny zip ties. If someone got in it they had better be there for a reason and leave the required paperwork. I carry them with me for return flights. |

| Gosh, our house was brole into as well - it will be 2 years ago in March. This current theft incident is no where near what we went through with the home invasion. Get this - we were HOME in bed on the 2nd floor. They walked in through the outside garage door, through the garage and into the house. Took 3 laptops, my purse (with wallet, car keys, etc), my cell phone, my husbands wallet and cell phone and my son's ipod. Needless to say every door we have now had a deadbolt and we have ADT. I hate to think what would have happend if one of us had gotten up when they were there. Scary... But this airline theft makes me mad!

| I had something like this happen in my hotel room. It was about 10 years ago and I had a web camera, which at the time wasn't a cheap thing, and it was stolen right off the window sill of the hotel room! Thankfully I had my laptop with me. When I went to the front desk to complain they said they weren't responsible for items lost or stolen in the rooms....WHAT?! I never stayed there again.... Speaking of alarms, I need to start using my house alarm again...

| A few years back someone broke into my brothers house, they were asleep on the 2nd floor. They have a silent alarm system,it went off in the masterbedroom as well. The three young men found my brother sitting at the top of the stairs with a 12gauge. He informed them that they had 3 seconds to get out. Noone has ever tried to break in again,,news must of spread. |

| I had a digital camera taken from my hotel room also. Its was New Years Eve (years ago) and my boyfriend at the time just bought the camera for me as a Christmas gift. I had it 1 week. We ran things down to our car and came back up when I realized I forgot the camera and had to get my dress from the night before hanging in the closet. The camera was gone and the room was being cleaned. My dress was still there. We went to the front desk and filed a complaint, the hotel manager said he'd look into it, but of course, we never got the camera back! I don't know why people think they can just come into YOUR home/hotel/car, whatever and just TAKE what is not theirs. Blows my mind. I had my car broken into, they smashed 2 windows. One was unnecessary and they took a bag out of my car. The only thing the bag had in it, was my artwork, drawings. I was sooooo mad, of course it was never recovered and the kicker... I guess I didn't have 'window' insurance at the time, so someone breaking into my car and taking MY things, cost me almost $1,000. Nice huh??

| On our honeymoon (Many years ago) I had taken my special pillow. I had this pillow all of my childhood and it had been everywhere with me. We spent the first night in a hotel, spent the next day siteseeing. When we came back my pillow was gone. I went to the desk, they said that they would look into it,I told the manager that I was standing right there at his desk until he came back with it. It was found in a maids locker, among other things that had gone missing that day. I got my pillow back she got to go home. Why on earth would you take a pillow? |
