| Anyone have experience with sleep disorders? I think my dh is suffering from a sleep disorder possibly sleep apnea. Symptoms i'm noticing: 1. Snoring off and on, sometimes loud, sometimes just loud breathing 2. He sleeps 6-8 hours then works 10-12 hours, comes home and takes a 1-2 hour nap, and still falls asleep right after we eat sometimes in the middle of a conversation or TV show, sometimes falls asleep sitting up doing something with his hands even. He has fallen asleep at a restaurant table while his best friend was talking to him and it was loud and bustling in there. 3. He is grouchy often and sometimes not that interested in sex, rarely initiates it at all and sometimes isn't in the mood even when I initiate (i know TMI, but it was a symptom on some webmd websites) So what do you think? I'm defin making him see a Dr. about this because I'm worried. Anyone think you know what it might be, does it sound like sleep apnea? Any advice or experience would be great. Prayers would be great too. |

| My good friend & her husband both have sleep apnea. They were diagnosed at a sleep clinic they were sent to by their family doctor. They now both sleep with breathing machines at night. She always complained of being tired no matter how much sleep she thought she was getting at night. I'd definately get your hubby to the doctor to see what is going on with him and get bloodwork done asap. Hopefully he'll get referred for a sleep study if needed. It's hard living life day to day if you're always exhausted. Personally, I just have insomnia and can rarely get to sleep before 3am., so am understandably tired the next day. When I do fall asleep early & get a full night's sleep, I'm fine.

| My dad has sleep apnea. He would fall asleep doing every and anything. He fell asleep driving and put he head through the window, feel asleep sitting on the bed and feel into the window, feel asleep standing in the bath room and bashed his head open and had to go to the er and get stitches, he feel asleep out side my door when I was younger and still at home around 10 years old I think and crashed through my door in the middle of the night. We couldn't go to movies because he could not stay awake during them and he broke all the nice wedding gifts him and my mom had because he feel asleep and would crash into them. He also would snore so loud you could here him all the way across the house and would wake up a lot throughout the night. He finally went to a doctor and they did a sleep study on him and he stops breathing a lot in his sleep and got like 10 minutes of sleep in an 8 hour sleep study so he now sleeps with a machine and can stay awake like a normal person now. I would definitely suggest going to a doctor.

| i was talking to my mom who used to do respiratory therapy and told her his symptom and she was asking about him stopping breathing and then i remembered. a few random times he gasps like he's just had a horrible nightmare and then his eyes get wide like he's seen a ghost and then he jumps up and almost throws up from gagging and choking. mom said yep that's prob sleep apnea and he's stopped breathing and chokes in air to wake up and breathe. so off to the dr. we'll be going. prayers would be nice. |

| Definitely sounds like sleep apnea. My hubby was diagnosed a few years ago and sleeps some nights with a cpap machine. He really doesn't like it (especially when he's congested) but he knows it will make him feel better. The one incident that finally convinced him to go to the dr. was one night when he woke suddenly and jumped out of bed gasping. He thought I was trying to smother him or something. Scared the you-know-what out of both of us. I don't remember his actual numbers but at the sleep clinic they didn't even keep him on the tester thing for very long because he had SO many non-breathing episodes per minute right off the bat. They immediately put him on the machine and all was great. His uncle also sleeps with one. Good luck at the dr.!

| I know of a guy that had it and he went through a sleep clinic, had a little surgery and is just fine now. Sending prayers for your dh.
