| Christmas Tree Survey: Colored lights? Or white lights? Another topic of discussion between me and my boyfriend. This is our first Christmas in our new house and finally have room to get a real tree!!! But now we can't decide between colored or white lights. I was raised a strictly white-lights kinda girl. He was raised a strictly colored-lights kind of guy. We are both fairly flexible... but can't make the decision and buy lights! We need to speed this process up since I want to get our tree this weekend I know this can be an opinionated topic but please, let me know what you think and pictures are always helpful!

| I have both (pre-lit)! No matter what you two decide on, I'm sure the tree will look beautiful. |

| Has to be coloured lights for me. White lights look just like everyday lightbulbs, streetlights, headlights, etc....and just aren't festive enough for my home.

| I personally like the white lights. I believe it brings out the color in the ornaments.

| I like colored the best but I use both on my big tree and just colored on my smaller tree. Just white lights look very formal and not very christmas like to me but I quess it depends on how you decorate. I decorate with alot of gingerbread houses, gingerbread men, dolls and christmas trees and snowmen. It is more a decorating around a child like type of theme rather than formal

| We switch it up every few years. Since Princess chewed most of our white lights last year I bought colored on Thanksgiving. Just last night I remembered the ornaments I bought after xmas last year, pretty sparkly pastels, so I think I need white again.

| I have always used colored lights on our and outside . Our tree is prelit but last year only one strand light when we went to put the tree up. Instead of buying a new tree we just bought LED lights. I loved the small ball lights and that's what we ended up using on the tree. My suggestion would be to make your decision TODAY and not wait until the weekend to buy. When we were trying to buy lights around this time last year all the stores were sold out or didn't have enough strands to match. The issue was that you could not purchase a few boxes from Target, Walmart, Walgreens because the colors would not match. This year our outside lights are going to be RED and WHITE! Clark (Griswald) was up on the roof over the weekend and it's still a work in progress. But so far I love the change and it's different from all the neighbors

| When I was growing up it was always all colored, I loved them. Over the years people seemed to turn to all white and we did that for several years and just in the last 2 or 3 years we have gone back to all colored on the tree and will use the all whites in other places in house, like the icicle ones. I really like the colored ones on the tree, they just seem more festive and happy to me but the white ones have their place in other parts of the house.

We are white light ppl, but we lean towards the traditional. Someone mentioned going all red or all green. One of our neighbors has all red on their bushes out front - looks nice.

My furkids Donating Member | My house is very country. I use all white lights. Make our home feel very cozy. Maybe you could put up a small tree outside (or if he has a man town) and put colored lights on it. My husband lived in Miami for 17 yrs and likes all that retro, modern, contemporary look...I do not...I can appreciate ALL styles ...just not in my house! LOL

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | I tend to like white lights as well. They just look classy to me and make the ornaments pop and be the main color focus on our tree. I do like colored ones if they are all one color, but not the multi colored. Just not a multi colored girl, but we never had them growing up either. I have seen tress's with all red lights or all blue lights that I loved though. Maybe you could meet in the middle and pick one main color and do the colored lights with just that color. I've seen lots of cute one color lights this year. My favorite was some pink I saw, but my husband said no way! LOL

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I have a set of white lights and also a set of multicolored that you can set for different effects. My favorite effect is having the white lights on and then the multicolored lights start out with red go to gold then green then blue etc. and I think it's so beautiful, but you can use them where the multicolored lights are just all on or twinkling, or several other things. They sell the lights at Lowes and they are perfect for those of us that like choices.
