| praying for my foster pup! A lady inquired about my foster dog tonight, and it looks promising. I've got the gift of gab, so feel free to do a quick skim lol. I have temporary custody of a 9 month old pitbull who was surrendered to me three weeks ago. She is beautiful! Yet no one has wanted her despite posting ads all over facebook groups, my page, and kijiji. A lady tonight replied about her, and has been asking me a lot of questions and telling me a lot about herself and her husband and son. They live in Manitoba and are willing to fly Izzy out there... a one hour flight that cost $60 air canada. They have flown a pitbull out before and said they had good experiences with air canada. Since they are also pitbull knowledgeable, that is a plus. And they are willing to enroll in classes for a month or two and send me Izzy's certifications. I also creeped her on facebook to make sure she was legit... I do this to all people when they've taken foster dogs from me lol. She has a house with an 8ft fence, large yard, and they own their house so no "moving and can't keep her" issues! I prefer that people meet the dogs first, but I have told her Izzy is extremely high energy unless she gets proper energy. And that she does jump and sometimes play a li'l rough and uses her teeth however not hard enough to break skin and that we are working on that. Pretty much told them the great, good, and kinda bad. And they seem very interested still. I am just wondering how shippinig her will go. I have NO experience in shipping a dog. Izzy is spayed, utd on vaccines, and microchipped... so I think getting vet papers for her flight will be fine. But how would I find crate requirements for a 60lb dog? It's only a 45min-1hr flight so I'm not too worried about her getting too stressed, she's been in a kennel for 12hrs! before Anyways advice is welcomed! She is my last foster and if I don't let her go to a family by next Tuesday then she has to go back to her old owner per the contract we agreed on. I do NOT want Izzy going back to being tied up to the bumper of a truck, or shut in a basement for the winter. Last edited by maci_mace; 09-29-2011 at 07:06 PM. |

| I wish you luck. I watched an episode of Pitboss before and it was very hard like almost impossible to get any carrier to ship a pitbull so you have your work cut out for you just wanted to let you know

| Yeah I have been researching it like a mad man, and I have to call air canada today. They said they had their registered pitbull shipped out there a while back through A.C., and Izzy is actually considered a pitbullX since no papers and she's a "rescue" maybe that will help :/ They are only going to take her if she is still here after Canadian Thanksgiving, they didnt want to stress her out too much, so looks like if I don't find a home for her she has to go back to her old owners and wait for her flight! Poor girl, breaks my heart she is so pretty, she is still a puppy, and has a good head on her... so stinkin' smart! Yet no home :/ I thought she would go fast! |

| I wish you much luck in placing this girl...all dogs deserve the security of a family. I know from my own experience that it seems adoptions are taking longer and longer lately. Not sure if it's the economy only but, it is slower than usual.

| She is a cutie! I have always wanted a pit bull/ pit bull mix, but the HOA only allows us to have 2 dogs and two cats and we are full.

| She got adopted locally today to a lady who has 15yrs of pity experience and who is the daughter of our mayor so izzy will have two large labradoodle siblings! She will also have a 7&10yr old human siblings. And two large yards to run. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect home I will be doing a home visit in a couple weeks after izzy has had a little time to bond and settle in thanks for the wishes/prayers/thoughts! |
