| Storm blew in a pet Cockateil! Last night when we were cleaning up the yard and setting the furniture back out there, a bird landed on the edge of the pool and leaned down and started drinking. The bird is a cockateil. Its a big guy too, very friendly. Clearly someone's pet. We got in a doggy crate and made a perch for it, we fed it cheerios and gave it water. It sings and it seems happy, likes to be touched and pet. I want to find the owners badly! I do not want this bird. I am not a fan of domesticated birds, plus my dogs are going INSANE with it in the house. It was later last night when we found it, so we took care of it and I posted a lost & found on Craigs list, I posted on facebook in case any of my friends knew someone who lost their bird. Tonight we are going to a Red Sox game straight from work so we can't make signs tonight, but tomorrow we are going to make signs for a missing bird with a phone number and hope someone owns this bird. I have NO idea how to take care of a bird. I'm sure cheerios are not appropriate food either but neither of us can get to the store until tomorrow so that is what it has to eat. He is cute though! Very friendly! I really hope we find the owners! Say a prayer!

| i have 2 cockateils and a parrot. if you need advice on how to take care of a bird let me know. also i have an extra bird cage for him if you want it, dont know how far away from me you are but alot of NH is only around an hour. i'm sure you'll get alot of response on your craigslist add. theres so many nutty people out there and people will say anything. how are you going to tell if the bird is theres? i would think alot of people that want a bird will just say they lost one...

| I hope you find the birds owners. I'm sure he has some distinct markings that only his owners know about.

| I hope you are able to find the bird's owner soon... I grew up with large birds, and would be distraught should one have flown away. I'm sure it's owner is looking for him.

| Oh I really want to find the owners... now that I'll be home tonight, I called the Animal control officer in my town. I immediately got a hit, I guess a woman called in that her cockatiel got out of her house on August 13. She is going to have the animal control officer call her and then call me back if this woman thinks it might be her bird. I'll meet up with her tonight with the bird. The woman on the phone at Animal Control said the woman called in and was sooo upset and distraught that her bird got away. I REALLY hope I can bring this woman LOTS of joy by giving her HER bird back! I feel sooooooo bad for the bird because it wants to be with people.... not shut in my basement, in a cage all alone. We have not been home to interact with it and the dogs go mental when they hear it or see it. So we really cannot interact with it even at home. BF is working from home today, I told him if he wanted to, to let the bird just sit on his shoulder for awhile, it seems that is all it really wants is some human attention. Poor thing! I hope this woman is his owner!

| I hope this turns out to be the owner too. It would be wonderful to be able to reunite her with the owners for a happy ending.

| i think it really would be amazing if you found the actual owner. Birds can fly for very long distances, so it highly possilbe that birds owner may live no where near you. Would be good if the cockateil was an unusual color. The common colors are the normal greys... they pretty much all look alike. then the latino colored , which are a real pale yellow with the orange cheeks. , but if its a pied that would be more easily identified , Dont tell rescue what color the bird is and ask when you speak to owner what color. If you cant find the owner , i think it would be fine to place bird with a good owner who will care for bird. , someone who really knows how to take care of a bird. alot of people dont know how and because of that the bird will die. like catching a draft, birds are very senisitve to that and can die from a cold. or certain fumes that are normal household fumes, like roomsprays. and should be fed certain things ... i never lost a bird but have heard many stories.

| Well I called Animal control this morning! They were super excited! There was 1 call from a woman on August 13th who lost her cockatiel and she was sooo upset and distraught. Animal Control came to my house, BF was home but I was not. They were supposed to call me first, but they went to the house and told BF they knew who the owner was and took the bird. I really hope this is the owner of this bird or we'll probably never know. Its gone now, hopefully going home. The owner lives about 5 miles from us. It was the only report of a missing cockatiel in our town in the last month or so. I might call animal control later to find out for sure if it was that woman's bird.

| Thanks gidget, but I'm just an animal lover... I don't want to own a bird, but I would never not rescue an animal in need! I got lots of replies from Craigs list from people who offered to take the bird if I didn't find the owner. Well I have sad news that makes me sort of angry. The woman must keep the bird outside during the warm days and that is how it got out in the first place. So I called Animal control just to find out if that woman was truly the owner. They told me yes and she was ecstatic to get her bird back! She put the bird in its cage (outside I guess) and the bottom of the cage fell and the bird got out and flew away AGAIN! Just MINUTES after she got him back after almost 3 weeks of being missing!!!!! I'm sooo bummed! She lives 5 miles from us so I don't think we'll see the bird again... makes me sad! I hope some other kind person finds it this time and KEEPS IT! LOL (kidding) but seriously I hope this woman if she gets the bird back, keeps it IN the house! ggeezzzz I was paying it back also... someone found my bros dog who got out of the yard during a thunderstormed and called us and we got her back quickly! I appreciated that and will do whatever I can to help others find their lost pets!
