| we are in the cone Yes..now it is our turn for the weather from H***! Miami is in the direct path for the newest hurricane (I think it is to be a cat 1 by morning). Oh.. I just hate this. We have been lucky and not really had anything for about 5 years. I just get nervous... brings back memories of Andrew

| Batten down those hatches and keep safe. Have only been in a mild hurricane and was scared at the time but it turned out to "only" be a Cat I and wasn't really bad other than the wind being high for a girl from Texas. Do you all put up the plywood and such for this level hurricane and get all the batteries, food and water or is one like this something you just wait out?

We will keep everyone in the path of this hurricane in our thoughts. Stay safe! If Irene stays on course, those of us in Virginia will probably see at least a strong tropical storm. Batten down the hatches.

| I just heard for my parents in St Croix. they said the worst is that they have no power. There are alot of branches down and alittle flooding. But eveyone is OK. Rain expected all week. My father just went to Radio Shack to buy a car cell phone charger ( he never had one ). When they lose power they have no regular phone lines but can talk on the cell phone Be well prepared everyone in the path of Irene !!! Hoping it wont be too bad

| I'm sorry! My family is in South Florida and we've lived in the same house for the past 20 years and through all the hurricanes the worst of it (for us) was a couple of shingles being lifted off the roof. We've been beyond lucky, and I pray that you and your loved ones will remain safe.

| I SO hope that the storm will stay a Cat 1! I'm definely keeping everyone in it's path in my thoughts and prayers! I get really, really paranoid this time of year for hurricanes, especially after having lived long enough to remember Camille, Frederick, Andrew, Ivan, Katrina, and many others that tore up everything. Luckily, the only storms that were really bad here where I live was Frederick and Ivan. Don't want to go through that Hell again! |

We have shudders and supplies.. it is part of living in this part of the world. Most times it is just a few days of wind and rain, maybe loss of power and some branches. I can deal with that .. but some of the higher cat. storms are mass destruction... like tornadoes. Quote:
It is funny.. sometimes Virginia and even New England have worst weather then we do form some of the storms. Sorry.
