I would like to get my grand daughter a netbook or small laptop for her sixteenth birthday, but, after surfing the web all afternoon on them i am so confused it is not even funny!! sooooooo........just wondering if anyone of my fellow yt'ers could put in any kind of suggestions about what might be a decent but not real expensive choice!! Or even what to look for!! Thanks in advance!

| We bought my daughter (11) and son (6) an Acer (10 in screen) from Walmart online for under $300 each! They work great, can even play FB games (although it is a little on the slow side for the games), but they are happy with them...they love them!

| Go here Best Netbooks - CNET Reviews They helped me know what specs I would need in a netbook. It was really easy to find what laptop suits me best. I don't understand computers much (the details anyway) and this was still extremely easy to use and navigate. I ended up getting a laptop from my loved ones, but this was still beneficial. I can help you if you'd like.

| My sons bought me an Acer Aspire One for Christmas two years ago. It's small and it's blue (my favorite color) and I'm very happy with it. |

| We looked at an Acer in Walmart...it looks decent! I imagine most of Taylors use would be face booking (she never does much with the games). Im sure she would love the size of the netbook vs a laptop.. Thanks so much for your input!!

| Acer makes great netbooks and in my research were the best (that was a few years ago though and technology changes fast). I would definitely highly recommend an Acer Aspire. As for the decision between a netbook and a laptop. It all depends on what you need it for. If you need something that is capable of running games or you need to do a lot of work on (e.g. in excel with large amounts of data, etc.), and need to have a lot of programs open all at once. Then a laptop is what you want. If you just want something to browse the internet on, type up the occasional word document, and do a little work on it. Then a netbook is fine. I LOVED my Acer Aspire netbook, but I was using it too much like a laptop and wore the poor thing out within a few years. I bought a laptop to replace it after realizing that I was looking more for laptop capabilities. However, I did LOVE my Acer netbook. |
