| Seeking employment advice Some may know I've been looking for a job & I'm trying to be really aggressive to find something I like. I was last a prep cook at a hospital, about 9.5yrs. there, so I'd like to cook again as I do enjoy it. A large hotel here has several restaurants in it & is hiring, so I applied in general basically for anywhere in the hotel with openings of my interest & abilities. I had a phone interview last Wed. that went well & they said allow 7 days to be contacted. Friday I saw the hotel on the caller I.D. & called HR to ask them if they knew who called. They said they did & connected me to one of the restaurants. I left a msg. for a manager & one called me back & scheduled an interview for Tues. So that was that. Well yesterday I was checking my voice mail & there was a msg. from a totally different man who said he was from the breakfast part of the first restaurant. I looked online & the addresses are the same & I didn't think they'd have two locations in one building for basically one rest. so I didn't call, just figured the other guy handled it. Today I find out it's on the other side of the hotel so now I don't think they are the same. My question (finally) is should I call the second guy, too? I was thinking I should but I'm not sure if I should tell him I have the other interview. I thought maybe if they did both know it might increase what they offer me but I don't know. I don't not want to say anything either. Usually if you go to job A you don't say I have an interview at job B. What do you think?

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I would absolutely call the other guy and I would also let him know about the other interview. It's possible that guy A let guy B know that you had applied and thinks that you would be a better fit for guy B. Before my MIL died, she ran multiple restaurants within a hotel in Vegas. Even though they were all part of one big Hotel, the individual areas did their own interviewing and hiring. All the applications went through one main HR, and were then distributed to the different areas where the skills matched up. Who knows, guy B might actually have an even better place to work.

| I called the hotel a few minutes ago & just spoke with the front desk. I asked her about the restaurants & she said they are completely separate ( imagine taking your pup to either "magic yorkie snack" or "magic yorkie dinner" in the same building). So I'll be calling tomorrow & see when I can meet with the other guy. To have a possibly have a choice between two things I'd really like sounds pretty exciting right about now.

| Well I had what I thought was a good face to face interview yesterday with guy #1. He has to clear hires through his GM so he said he'd call me today. This morning guy #2 called me & I told him about the other interview just so I didn't come across as being sneaky or something & asked him if he wanted to talk with guy #1 first. He wanted to, so he called me back this afternoon. He scheduled me for an interview tomorrow. The other guy didn't call at all so I don't know what exactly is going on. I was told that they are separate companies, but you can transfer between the restaurants freely if a position is open, etc. He also said if they think you are a better fit somewhere else they can transfer you. So I'm wondering if they have decided on the second place as long as the interview goes well. I have exact experience with almost all of it, where I'd have to learn some new things at the first one. Hopefully I will have a definitive (and positive) answer tomorrow!

| Woo Hoo!!! Thanking God as well of all the YT thoughts & prayers---I'm employed! Good thing guy #2 called as he offered something better & seemed nicer as well. I start on the 8th & I couldn't feel more relieved! And of course, it doesn't hurt that I'm working for the same company that owns my Hot Hockey Men.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | That is awesome! Congratulations. Sure seems like they put you in an awkward situation. I'm glad you were up front about it to both managers. Make sure Guy #1 knows you accepted the other job. You don't want to burn any bridges.

| The guy #1 interviewed me in the #2 spot. He offered me both jobs, said he wanted to put me in the better fit. He said they talked & they were sorry they both called, they didn't know about each other. He said in time I'll probably be cross-trained in both places. It's at the Radisson.

It's what I like to do. It'll be a challenge to do it in a different environment but it'll be nice to have a clue to begin with.
