| HELP...Need a loud 20" box fan for "white noise" Does anyone have a recommendation for a 20 inch box fan that is LOUD? I am more interested in one that is loud as opposed to the air flow. We mostly use it to drown out snoring (ughhh) and other noises to get a good nights sleep. If you have purchased one recently, that meets this criteria (LOUD OR LOUDER) please give me the make an model number. I'm getting desperate!!!!!

It's about the size of a tea plate but it's super loud and efficient

| I laughed when I read this. I'm addicted too (to a sound of a fan). I usually pack a small one in my bag, but not as good as a window fan. I bet you can ask the front desk of the place you are staying, if they have a fan. Then give them a big tip. I have a noise machine, but for whatever reason, it does not work for me like it sounds like it works for you.

No Longer a Member | I just did a preview for the white noise stuff...do you think this is a good thing for extremely light sleepers? (I used to sleep like I was in a coma, now anything and everything wakes me up) I've tried music but it just wakes me up every-time the tempo changes, leaving a tv on is no good, and fans give me a sore throat. |

| Have you tried the iphone app on a Bose iphone dock? INCREDIBLE! It sounds totally real. Its really small & light too. Now I always have to take it with me if I go somewhere. I LOVE it. (I especially love the thunderstorm & ocean sounds on the iphone apps.)

| I bought a fan at a yardsale for my son at college- It was just the cheapo walmart one-hardly used $2! can't go wrong right? It was like a jetplane taking off and hardly moved any air!- I don't think you would be disappointed! (make sure to set it on a hard surface for maximum vibration.) |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Here’s a great website with white pink or brown noise. SimplyNoise - The Best Free White Noise Generator on the Internet.. Try setting it for brown noise and high oscillating, you'll get so sleepy.

| Wow, I thought I was the only weird one that needed noise to sleep!! My boyfriend LOVES when it's quiet but that just keeps me awake. I've been sleeping w/ a fan my whole life and I love it. I like the noise and the air.

| I also have to sleep with a noise.. No music just white noise. I have a air hepa filter machine I have on all the time.. Cleans air and makes the noise so I can sleep. We got it at Menards and I have had it for 8 years now. Just change the filter twice a year.. I love it! If we are staying out of town in a hotel. I have the fan going on the heater or air conditioner. It helps!

| Thank you everyone for the great suggestions. I have looked into the white noise machines on the internet and read the reviews on them. Many of them have noises that are intermittent and I need a constant noise which the fan provides along with the air movement. It also has to be quite loud to drown out the snoring. I will check into some of the ones you have suggested and see if they will work for my situation. Not only that, but it would be great to have something that is small enough to travel with.
