| Is it just me or is new music just totally annoying... Ok I have a newly developed pet peeve... (and I'm a young person who is supposed to like this generation's music). I'm really getting sick of people redoing awesome classic songs and screwing with them. Like right now on the radio there is someone who's done "alone" by heart, and threw in some male vocalist pop crap in the middle. Same with "I had the time of my life" changed into "dirty bit" UGH!!!! The list goes on and on! Is there anyone else who really annoyed by this! Maybe it's because I used to sing, and all the songs that used to be vocally challenging and fun to sing, now they're all dumbed down and sound horrible.

No Longer a Member | Well, there is a certain "fever" going around that I'm immune to, but apparently many parents forgot to give their kids the vaccine for. And now the fever is plaguing the non infected world. And yeah, pretty much all the new music that has been coming out in the last few years has been pretty glad someone else has noticed! |

| I remember as a little kid wondering if people would just run out of things to write, then I'd giggle and think it was the silliest thing... OMG IT's ACTUALLY Happening!!!! The music world is doomed. like honestly I can't see an 80 year old sitting in a rocking chair humming Black Eyed Peas... The Beatles, now that has survived how many generations? I honestly think they need to go back to old fashioned rock and roll.

| Oh boy....don't get me started! My problem with current music is how rated R it has become. I turned to the top 20 station on XM and was actually shocked with what I heard. I'm no prude by any means, but this is all really too much. The lyrics are just insanely crude. I am a youth coach to the teens at my church, and this is what my lesson was on this previous Sunday. Like I said, don't get me started....

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Interesting thread. I am just *bored bored bored* with today's music. But, I've been bored with it for quite a while. The last time I found it interesting/engaging was the early-mid 1990s when Nirvana was around...the Seattle music scene exploded and there was this huge burst of creativity and originality. The music itself (and lyrics) were just interesting. Then...by late 90s, here came the boy bands and the pop music and ugh, I checked out. One of my biggest music peeves is the whole genre of a 'singer' who only lip synchs -- and then dances all over the place. However, as the audience - we're supposed to believe he/she IS singing, while also dancing like crazy. Anyone ever try doing that? Yeah, doesn't work. This type of genre goes along with the current trend of auto-toning people's voices too...and I dunno, it just seem to unauthentic to me. I will always love music from the 60s, 70s, early 80s (REM, Pixies, The Replacements..), early-mid 90s.....but now I just feel like I can't get on board w/ anything . On the subject of music, what do people think of Lady Gaga?

| I find 'pop' music today boring and lacking in imagination and talent too... too many remakes or reusing old music in the background. I like to hear people actually use their natural voice to SING instead of having it digitalized. I love my XM radio for the 80s and 90s channels because I can go back and hear REAL music.

| I actually like Lady Gaga. But I do agree most of today's music sucks. It was way better in the early 00's and 90's especially for country music. Todays country music honestly sucks and I can't even fathom listening to it. I do agree the boy bands sucked lol. Although when I was a teen growing up in the late 90's I only liked 'N Sync lol. I personally don't listen to that anymore but I do prefer older music compared to todays mush. Quote:

| For newer music I really like Kid Rock, he is really talented (his newer stuff) and hes amazing in concert! I never much minded the boy bands because at least they seemed to use their own voices. I hate the digital remixing of a person's voice. I like Britney Spears music because it was easy to dance too... but I swear I think she must have a horrible voice because you never hear her naturual voice in ANY song.

| I am so there with you. They have run out I'd ideas haven't they? I stay away from the pop music, there's just nothing of substance there. It makes me long for he days on the east coast west coast rap war days. I grew up listening to that. Ann, I Nirvana!!!! I love Dave Grohl and his band as well. It was almost like Dave and the Foo Fighters could do no wrong. Then the new album came out and it sounds too much like The color and the shape album. Granted, I've only heard he two singles they released.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Glad to know it's not just me. I was thinking I was turning into my parents and just couldn't accept the "new music". It's interesting to read some of the younger one's comments about my generations music on Youtube. I'm a fan of Motown and much of 60's to 90's music, but after that they kind of lost me with the exception of an occasional tune. Lady Gaga, I think is all about shock value to sell her music. I listen to country sometimes because that's dh music. He says the newer country artists are more like pop artists and he doesn't care for the crossover music. He's probably one of the few that doesn't like Taylor Swift at all.

| I have 6 kids (people) I have lived through their music a couple of times and they mine. I just made sure that they didnt hear anything except classical or classic rock growing up (I know that I live in TX and should like country but I dont). A remake is NOT a new song it is just a remake. My cure for the kids that pull up next to me with the boom, boom, boom going on is bagpipe music. You can NOT hear boom, boom, boom over bagpipes,I am not talking about "Scotland the Brave". There are still 3 teen in my house and the only thing that I ask is that what they are listening to doesn't sound like the vocalist is being tortured, that is NOT singing. |

| I like Gaga...thinks she's a talented, original artist. I love rap/hip-hop...Eminem, Dre, Jay-Z, Wiz Khalifa, Akon. Not into rock. Hate most remakes...why mess with a classic? Like just about anything with a dance beat, not a fan of slow music & ballads. Auto-tune needs to be banded! I wish lyrics were better written & not so repetitive. Not a fan of edited music...I wanna hear it how the artist intended it. I like old 80's REM, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, New Order. And I love old Motown tunes. And to, "I can't see an 80 year old sitting in a rocking chair humming Black Eyed Peas... " I CAN!!! That would be my Grandpa! He loves listening to the Top 20 and is current on music.

| I've created a monster here... lol I like Lady Gaga, probably because I always liked Madonna, that's who my aunt raised me on. I find Lady Gaga, isn't afraid to try to be different, and that's what I like about her.

| I love Lady GaGa, too! I know the comparisons to Madonna are there, but it is early in her career. I like Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Adele, Cee Lo Green, Marc Broussard, and many of the current "newbies". I also find that as I get older, my musical tastes run the opposite way too. I'm getting drawn more and more to "roots" music-- rock n roll from the 50s and old blues. This is TRUELY the basis of today's music. |
