| dtr's day About 3:30 she was driving home from taking her doxie and yorkie to the vet's. She found out her yorkie (6 yrs old) has a collapsed trachea which we suspected. He also has an enlarged heart and they do not expect him to live much longer. Gremlin is her baby. Her doxie (Robbie) needs eye surgery for some reason. So she was upset. She stopped behind a car that had stopped cause the car in front of her was waiting on the car in front of that one to make a left turn. Niki was then rear ended by a young high school student. We think her grand cherokee is totalled. She can not open the back doors at all, she can not put gas in the gas tank. Her back hatch can not be opened. The VW passat the kid was driving was def totalled. Niki hit the car in front of her. Her ins sd since the kid was at fault they will not pay anything that the other ins will have to pay. She has a sore neck, not sure if from stress or the wreck. I have been trying to get her to go to er sd may tomorrow. Her dogs were in the back seat. They are fine. but she sd if it had been a regular car instead of the cherokee, they might have been hurt. She is 24 and has had the jeep since she was 17. She called her dad to come get the dogs. She is so stressed right now.

| What a terrible day. It's bad enough to get bad news about the babies and then an accident too. I hope Gremlin and Robbie will be OK. I hope your daughter is OK too. Maybe your daughter can take a nice hot shower to try to soothe her muscles. Sending good thoughts and prayers to you and your family. |

| Poor thing! Some days you just wonder whay in the world is going on. I sure hope she gets to ER and gets checked out. Then home and a little TLC for all - what a horrible few hours you all have had.

| Awww, poor thing. I feel bad for her. Sending good thoughts she is just a little sore and it's nothing more serious. Hope her parents are doing ok too because it's stressful on you too when your kids are going through something out of your control and you can't fix it right away for them.

| That sounds like a really bad day, sending my thoughts her way. I would definitely insist she sees a doctor. If she acts now she may prevent a lot of pain in her neck. I knew a few people who had been seriously rear-ended (my mom was one of them) and it took a few years to get their neck back to normal because they waited. Also I used to ride horses (and subsequently get chucked off of them) I always went to the hospital if I sustained a really bad fall when my neck was involved to make sure I didn't pinch any nerves or cause permanent damage. I also hope her pups turn out to be ok, that news in itself can be stressful, let alone a car accident.

| Thanks all. She is still putting off going to the dr. She is stubborn about drs like her dad. I have always told her, if in a car wreck get checked out even if not feeling pain. You never know what will show up later. She has her planned day off today so will use our blazer tomorrow. The kid that hit her is a jr in high school. I wonder if he was on the phone. His dad told Niki not to worry he would take care of it. SHe sd the lady in front of her had no ins and came out of the car holding her back. I see a lawsuit in the making. Problem is you are suppose to go after the person who hit you. I think Niki's ins will back her in this. Niki sd she was at a stop and had been so a couple of seconds. So it looks as if the kid was totally at fault. I am not sure how she will be able to afford another car. The cherokee is a 94so the blue book value is not great. As for her furbabies, they are not showing any side effects from the wreck. Thank goodness, I am not sure how much more she can take right now.

| Sometimes those neck injuries don't show up at first - it can take up to 2 weeks or so for some strains or sprains of the cervical spine to manifest. There can be headaches, dizziness, nausea, neck, arm pain, N&T, muscle spasm, etc., so if she starts developing those symptoms, make her go in. A true neck injury is nothing to sneeze at. I am so sorry for the bad news about the two dogs, too. Truly, sometimes you just wonder why things get so bad sometimes.

| If your daughter's insurance has to pay for the car in front, won't they just subrogate from the insurance of the guy who ran into her? I thought that was how it worked.

| I was told by someone that you have to go after the person behind you because that is the person who did damage to your car. I am sure that her ins will go after the kid that hit her. She went to the Urgent Care center but they wanted money up front even though they are her PCP because they did not know who the responsible party was and thier info. She then went to an ER at a local hospital. They diagnosed her with whiplash. Gave her a neck brace and muscle relaxers and pain pills. She is off work again today. She is very sore like I told her she would be and dr sd she will be hurting for couple weeks more than likely. She is to go back to er if she is still hurting at that point.

| That's what I understood, too, as far as the claims-paying process but I thought the person primarily at fault for the occurance of the accident's insurance had full and final liability after all settlements and had to reimburse other insurance companies who had paid claims related to that accident, but am "shady" on that, basing it only what I've heard over the years and thanksully not through personal experience. I am so glad that she went for treatment but wow, sounds like PCP's office is kinda hard to deal with. I hope the little dogs are okay, too. Sounds like they all have some hard times to come for a while.
