| So Scared. Well Wed is my Epidural Injection for my back, I am getting scared. I know I shouldnt be, but Ive never had an IV never had really been to the Dr's... My Mom is taking me so that makes me feel better, and she said she would stay after and cook my DH and I dinner and take care of me. My apt is at 8am so I am glad I am able to rest all day...and have my Mom take care of me. I just had my blood taken and the dr said everything came out normal.. I also realized where they took the blood is all brusied and this was 2 weekends ago! I am going to guess I will be bruised after the IV as well. Ugh! I am just nervous, not so much for the moment of getting it done, but I am nervous how its going to make me feel...like if I am sore or if I feel wonderful after.. My back has been really hurting me so I hope I can get some releif from this... I just cant wait to be done, and on my way home to snuggle with Pnut and lay down all day! And of course hang out with my Mom all day |

| My husband has had several epidurals for his back, so I understand your apprehension. Will you be getting the x-ray guided type? DH has had two by this method and two or three simply by the anesthesia Dr. having him bend over while sitting on the hospital bed and injecting the meds "free-handed" so to speak. It was actually less painful to him that way, but MUCH riskier! Don't fret about this procedure, though. You will be taken very good care of and be sure to follow EVERYTHING that you are told afterward! This is very important so that your procedure is a success! Best Wishes to you! |

| I hear you on the odd bruising. I had blood taken for a physical, and when I had my surgeries, my arms and hands were all bruised. It lasted a very long time too! I'll keep you in my prayers and I hope everything goes well.

| You will be fine! Trust me! Every six months - sometimes more often - I get 6 injections in my lower back one week and then 6 in my upper back the following week. Just rest after for the rest of the day. You may not feel relief that day, but by the next day you will feel much better. The doctor always calls me the day after to see how I am doing. Sometimes I have to tell him that the injections "haven't kicked in yet" but then later that day I feel the relief. You probably won't even feel the injections. I only feel a tiny prick, yet the doctor always apologises!!!

| Thank you all for your support. It feels really good to have it. @ LoALAnna: Yes they are doing the x-ray guided, and they said I will have "light anesthesia". What does your DH have to do after he gets the injections? Will I have to take the next day off from work? @ yorkieusa, babbsiam44: Thank you very much!! @ DvlshAngel985: Yes I bruise easy too!! I'm sure my hand will be after the Iv. I always seem to have bruises on me, and I have no idea where I get them, I very lightly knock my thigh on the corner of my bed, the next day I had a bruise, it looked like someone hit me with a bat! Haha. Thank you for your thoughts! @ Beamers Mom: My apt is tomorrow at 8:15 so I will have all day to rest, and my Mom will be with me so I know she will take good care of me. Do you think I will have to call in the next day? How do you feel the next day? |

| Oh, I know you are scared. I have had many epidurals for back pain and now they do it all so smoothly that the fear is the only bad part. My last one I only felt the "bee-sting" of the local and a bit of pressure and blessed numbness. It is scary but really, getting up on the table to get the procedure is what hurts! Try not to be scared as you will be in the hands of professionals who do this over and over every day and know that there will be many prayers for you. |

| A friend of mine and my husband had the x-ray guided epidurals and that is the only thing that helped them. Their Dr. really put them at ease, joking around with them. My husband had a bruise on his back where they did the injection. He had 3 of them two weeks in between each one. Sending prayers and good thoughts to you. |

| [QUOTE=lovespandp;3463868] Thank you all for your support. It feels really good to have it. @ LoALAnna: Yes they are doing the x-ray guided, and they said I will have "light anesthesia". What does your DH have to do after he gets the injections? Will I have to take the next day off from work? My husband was told that is was "best" to take off the next day, but mainly he needed to rest. That meant not to sit longer than 15-20 minutes at a time (sitting puts too much pressure on the spine) and to make sure he walked a bit every few hours. He works a very physically demanding job, so thats why taking off was a good idea. He doesn't get the shots now, as his condition was beyond epidural help. He had spinal surgery last July. You'll feel so much better after your procedure, I promise! |
