| Daughter Got 1st Ticket Today My daughter, 21, got her fist ticket today for rolling through a stop sign. She was so upset with herself. I had to laugh, because she called me and in a very somber voice said, guess what. I immediately assumed she was in an accident and my heart sank and started beating fast. She said she got her first ticket for rolling through a stop sign. In the realm of life, it wasn't "that" bad. Only $133.00. LOL. She didn't understand my relief or appreciate my giggles of joy that she's ok. Do you remember your first ticket? I have only had 1, 25 years ago for speeding on my way home from college for the funeral of our local vet who I had once worked for. I will never forget it.

| My first ticket was a parking ticket - too close to a fire hydrant. My son gets tickets and lets them sit, then they add on penalties and they cost him even more. Will he ever learn?? |

| I can proudly say that I've been driving for 34 years and have never gotten a ticket. (knock wood). lol My daughter who will be 20 next week got a ticket when she was 18 for exactly what your daughter got hers for. She just had surgery on her knee about 2 weeks before and she had a knee immobilizer on her left leg and she was stopped but also was trying to put her seat back a little because her seat was too close probably rolled a bit also. Cop didn't even want to hear it. Her ticket was about the same $140 or so. I hate those phone calls that begin with a somber "mom". My heart just can't take it.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Knock wood, I've never gotten one. However, I had my first accident when I had only been driving for a few weeks. My dad (who was a CHP officer) was up in L.A. for the day, so I sat cowering on the couch with a blanket over my head until he got home (I was 17 at the time.) I was terrified that he was going to flip. Instead, he walked in to the house and called out "Hey 'Crash'" and walked upstairs. The man was good at psyching me out. Nothing is more frightening than telling your parent's you messed up

| I've been driving for 32 years and haven't had a ticket yet...hopefully this post won't jinx me I did get stopped once though. My husband bought me a little convertible for my birthday back when you had to put the white slip of paper in the front window when you got a new car...remember that? Anyway, the officer didn't see a plate and he couldn't see the window sticker with the top down so he pulled me over but once he saw the paper he let me go...I was so nervous I about wet my pants! |

| Wow, I am really impressed by those who have never had a ticket. Kudos to you! I hope this thread does not jinx you. I have only had the one, but I have had my share of luck with just a warning as well.

| Wow, it is impressive how many of you don't have any tickets. The cops around where I live have nothing better to do than radar for speeding. I had several when I was a teenager, but went 5 years without one and recently got one for 30 in a school zone... I didn't know it was a school zone yet, but I am a teacher

| In our state, we can plead a good driving record and beat the ticket. So every three years you can get one free speeding ticket But I of course have never gotten one

Maybe we should all say where we have lived because all of my tickets were in Cook County, Illinois where traffic tickets are a major source of revenue. I doubt I could get a ticket where I live now.

| I think you got it! LOL, generally here, for something as minor as rolling through a stop sign you will be let go with a warning. This officer ran her info, then came back to her and said....I see you have never had a ticket.....until now, then handed it to her. LOL. It hurt her pride more than anything. But, she is in a major college town, and I am guessing their revenue on tickets alone is in the millions of dollars, on campus especially they will ticket you for any tiny offense. $20.00 here and there adds up.
