| teacup and craigslist im in las vegas have you ever seen all the teacups for sale on there. The word never bothered me now it does. All these puppies being advertised as a teacup what happens when these owners take these babies home and they turn out normal weight, the pound. Chis ,yorkies, Maltese normal weight starts at 3 pounds what the heck is going on if you want somthing as small as a mouse by a mouse. Its not legal to breed your pets in vegas without a license but no one enforces it over 6 thousand chis are put down here every year. Instead of making a law that no one follows why not make it mandatory to microchip and when your pet goes to the pound give the owner the bill to care for them. Im rambling but just pissed with this craigslist puppie sellers. |

No Longer a Member | I agree...but ignorance about the "teacup" term is pretty common. A lot of people think that a 5lb yorkie is a "teacup" when in reality it's just a healthy, standard yorkie. People don't do very much research before purchasing their pups, so they can be easily taken by the average byb who advertises "Yorkies of all sizes, from teaspoon to teapot!" which are yorkies 2lbs to 20lbs. They don't understand that they are just purchasing a poorly bred yorkie, and chi and maltese for that matter. Knowledge is the best tool, all we can do is help educate the public...unfortunately the ones seeking education aren't the ones we need to worry about. |
