| Disc herniation I was in a car accident while riding a cab on January 19th. I got a cut above my mouth, which punctured through the skin and scraped my gum and injured my teeth as well. I was in shock as to how much blood was coming out of my mouth and I wasn't thinking straight I had bad headaches but beside that I was just so glad that I didn't die! The next day I started feeling horrible pains throughout my body starting with headaches and nausea which made me throw up more than a couple of times. As well as neck pain and lower back and my left leg. The long story short is that after many visits of the doctors and tests I found out that I have a herniated disc in my neck and lower back with some nerve damage in my left leg. It has been about a month now and I'm still in pain. The doctor prescribed Hydrocodon for my pain but it makes me so nausious that I don't want to take it and even with the Hydrocodon I'm still in pain.I still get extremely nausious to the point where it is imposisble for me to ride a car. I'd like to know if there"s anyone who has a similar pain like mine and if it gets any better as times passes by. I'm in so much pain that some nights I go to sleep crying. How long would this last and would the intensity of pain get better as time passes by and also, is there any possiblility that the pain would return as I get older? I would really appreciate your opionion- slash advice, regarding this. Thank you for your help.

| That's terrible. I've never had anything like that. Have you been to a specialist yet? If not, I think you need to do so.

| I've been to neurologist whom got upset when I asked him questions regarding my symptoms... and orthopedic surgeon who was very helpful, but for some reason I get really nervous with doctors and forget any questions I had before. I get million butterflies in my stomach! I just remembered that the cab driver was 68yrs old. I have nothing against elderly, but there should be some kind of age limit for job like driving.

| I also get nervous and forget questions. Write them down before hand and sometimes I just hand over the list. My NP will go over the questions one at a time with me.

| I'm sorry to hear that you are going thru this. Have you tried a pain management doctor. My husband and a friend of mine(she is the one who told me about this) had herniated discs and went to pain management and then received epidural shots in a series of three, two weeks apart. Thank goodness it helped. It is done by an anesthesiologist and they use an x ray or some type of imaging so they can see exactly where they are placing the injection. I don't know if this would help you but you could ask your doctor. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. |

| I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. I've done something to my back and keep putting off going to the Dr. I have pain that runs down the back of my right butt cheek and leg. I haven't been able to sleep through the night for two months now. Hope you get to feeling better

I must be losing my mind as well. My doc's appointment was today not yesterday. (by the way I left the list of questions at home!) Dr. Kron didn't want to give me a shot for now. He wants me to manage the pain in my own and continue with my physical theraphy.(he said that it is normal to have pain up to 6~8month after the accident) I told him that I have consistent pain and some days it is so bad even vicodin doesn't work. He said that I should be glad that I don't have those extreme pain all day long 24/7. If severity of my pain persist for next few month, we'll discuss epidural shots and surgery as well... It is so frustrating to feel sick and not being able to do simple things like running with your furbabies!!!!

"dispatcher" I had that same pain that ran down my butt check and my leg and walked with a limp and hunched over, it's the nerve being pinched. I still have numbness in 2 of my toes from my ruptured disc in 2009 from the nerve being pinched, there is nothing that can be done for it now, the nerve is to damaged, and it was only about 2 weeks from the time my disc ruptured and i had surgery so please don't wait to long to get it checked out.

thank you. I was in such pain past couple of days, I even misses my physical therapy. I met a lady during physical therapy last week, and she had herniated disc on her lower back which doctor recomanded surgery. She said that surgery didn't help at all!!! Is it possible? She said that doctors are quick to recomand surgery, since it's big $$$ for them. Now I'm scared and don't know where to start to find right doctor for me... Is there any resource that I can use to find dood doctor in my area?

| I don't understand why your Dr hasn't given you a diff pain med. Nausia to any med is often an allergic reaction & usually the Dr will give you something else to try. Can you call him/her & ask for something else, maybe Tramadol. You Have to do something as you can't live in that kind of pain. |
