| Anybody been to Round Top, TX Antique week? I am planning a trip to the Spring Antique shows in & around Round Top, TX and am wondering if anyone else has gone? I don't really know what to expect but I think it is going to be pretty big since all the hotels for miles around are all booked!! An info is appreciated!!

| Oh Wow! That would be a dream vacation for me. I love antiques, and by love, I mean obsessed. Wish I was able to go. I have replaced most of the furniture in my house with antique pieces, either using them as they were meant to be used or re-purposed in some cases. I hope you have fun and find LOTSA treasures. I just checked, it's only 16 hours away from me Last edited by MaddiesMommie; 02-19-2011 at 06:58 AM. |

| I go twice every year, they have a festival in the spring and another in the fall. What do you want to know?

| I'm wondering if you have to get to the gates really early to stand in line? Like for Marburger which is the main show I am going for. Also, it is all little country roads right, is the traffic terrible? Are there really large crowds? Thanks for the info.

| Yes, there are lots of people and the roads can get backed up. But there is traffic control so it moves along pretty well. Also, I've never stood in line behind more than a couple of people to get into one of the venues. Things are also so well spread out at the venues that it doesn't seem crowded at all, even though there are a lot of people there. Marburger farms is the best for serious antiquing. They charge an entry fee, but it is worth it if you are looking for quality only. Warrenton is more fun, it's close by Marburger and it's more like a treasure hunt. (Free parking and entry). Be sure to eat at Royer's Round Top Cafe, they set up a location in the middle of the Warrenton venue. Every night, the exhibitors have a blast at Zapp Hall with live music and adult beverages. I've overhead some pretty great stories. If you are staying nearby, try to stick around for the party at Zapp Hall. One night is even "prom night," LOL. It's an easy day trip for me, so I've never stayed overnight. I would also recommend checking out Cole's -- lots of great stuff, free parking and entry, also air conditioned if you have the need to cool off, and real restrooms (no portapoties). There is also Rifle Hall, which is another one-building venue, they charge a small entry fee. Warrenton Antiques Show dealers There are lots of other venues that are spread out and small, and some with more of a craft-fare type atmosphere, but IMO the ones above are the best for antiquing.

| I've seen people with leashed dogs, too, and dogs in strollers. It's also not unusual for a dealer to have a dog with them, either. Pretty dog friendly. Although I would expect that if you're going through one of the areas that is enclosed, they would want you to either carry your dog or have it in a stroller type carrier, so there would be no peeing/pooping on the floors.

| If you go to the Warrenton venue, Zapp Hall and Royer's sits right in the middle of it: Zapp Hall Antique Show

| We usually go twice a year. I prefer Warrenton as Round Top is usually out of my price range. There are some fabulous antiques there, just too expensive for me. I've included some pictures of Warrenton. As you can see we usually take our Yorkie boys in their stroller. I have a good hubby, he usually pushes them!

| Hi Cory! You are so right - the boys are chick magnets and Gary doesn't mind one bit. I meant to post this picture with the rest but forgot to downsize it so I couldn't - but here it is - living proof of Gary enjoying the 'chick magnet' status.

| Gayle and Owned by Jezebel, Thanks so much for all your great info and photos!! I can't wait to go. I'm not taking any doggies because I had a hard time finding a place to stay and the B & B that I found says no pets!! I love all the photos. I was definitely going to go to Warrenton too! I'm going to the Junkville Gypsy's Prom night, should be fun!! I'm mainly going to Marburger because my favorite designer Magnolia Pearl is there! I'm making this whole trip just to see Robin!!
