Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Jersey shore? I have never watched the MTV program Jersey Shore but I have heard of it. Do you watch it and what is it about? Is it based in New Jersey? if so what do the people of New Jersey think of it? The reason I am asking is that MTV are now talking about doing a british version called Geordie Shore which will be based in Newcastle upon Tyne in England, where I live and where I was born. It is called Geordie Shore because people who are from Newcastle are called Geordies. Newcastle is very much a party city with lots of bars and night clubs, people come from all over England for a night out in Newcastle and I believe this is what MTV are going to focus on. But many people I know are worried about how the program will make geordies look, if they only focus on the night life then its going to make us all look like alcoholics! LOL. Like I said I have never watched Jersey Shore, so how do you think it made the people of New Jersey look? or do you think the community were unaffected by it?

| Jersey Shore makes us look like illiterates, steroid users, hookers and boozers. We still haven't gotten over being made to look like gangsters and murderers (Sopranos). The Jersey Shore is a beautiful place to live and yes a lot of it was filmed here.

Because Newcastle is very much a party city with a huge night life scene I am afraid Geordies will be made to look like alcoholic binge drinkers. It's true that the Bigg Market and Quay Side where a lot of the bars and clubs are situated are a big part of Newcastle with most people visiting them at least once a month. But not everyone goes out to get really drunk. Some of the girls who have applied look like common slappers to be frank, too much fake tan and not enough clothes. Sure there are girls like that in Newcastle, but they exist all over the world. I just dont want the rest of the world to think Newcastle is full of drunk tarts because it's not.

| I watch Jersey Shore all the time with my 17 year old daughter. At first I thought it was stupid and couldn't believe I was watching it but then it becomes addicting. It's still stupid and it's mindless entertainment but most people I know who watch it are very aware that it's "reality TV" where the producers rile up the "actors" and show only the sensational stuff by editing the film to make it look like that 1 hour show is all they do all day long. I watch alot of these shows with my daughter so we can discuss bad and unacceptable behavior and discuss what she would do if confronted with those same situations. In that sense it doesn't seem like I'm lecturing her about what I expect from her when she goes out or when she goes to college. We are discussing how Snooki got so drunk she embarrassed herself and her friends and had to call her dad - those kinds of things evoke discussions without being a big fuss. I think most people will understand that the show is just for entertainment and not "real life" in your area. The fake tans, big boobs, muscle bound cute boys, drinking, sex with strangers, no job, etc isn't normal life and I think most people know that. Teresa |

| The show is ridiculous. One of them Vinny is the son of my husbands friend and he is a nice kid, but on the show I don't like some of the things he does. Second I was 21 married with a child and I can't imagine how they are older than I was at that time and act they way they do? They range from 24 all the way to Paulie being 31 They are not kids, but they act like they are. That Jwow is always looking to fight every problem that comes up instead of talking she wants to fight and what is she like 25 or older. I just find it disgusting and if she was my kid I would be mortified. Snookie is gross all she does is want to sleep with guys I mean her parents are watching this? I don't know I am 40 now and I know I never ever acted that way at their age, never. |

| Only one person is actually from Jersey. I LOVE this show. People already thought of Americans are moronic, uneducated idiots.... this show just reassures them of that. That's why I love this show, THAT is our future of is country, nobody wants to admit it. |

| Yes, have watched it and lately have watched more frequently. DH is from that area so its pretty funny to see it on TV. The behavior is appalling. But, if I am really being honest a certain percentage of it is not that far from my experiences living at the beach back in the day. That being said, now I have a much better understanding of why my 26-28 year olds think their craziness is the "norm". What is frightening is I've heard this crew is going to be living in Italy for the next season, filming there. That region of Italy will never be the same, and it will not help with our international relations |
