Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | 25th Anniversary of the Space Shuttle Explosion I just heard that the Challenger exploded 25 years ago today. I still remember vividly when I heard about it. I was at a conference in Washington D. C. We were in a big meeting room and one of the organizers came in and said " the teacher's shuttle has exploded." For a moment I didn't realize he was talking about the Challenger. Then there was a collective gasp and many of us got up and left the room to see the news. I didn't go back to the meeting that day. Instead, I wandered around the city. It was like an episode of the Twilight Zone. The normally crowded and noisy Mall was nearly empty and hushed. That day, along with the day President Kennedy was shot and 9-11 will be in my memory forever. A moment of silence for the seven astronauts who touched the face of God that terrible day. |

| Amen! Thank you for reminding us to remember the tragedy that took place that day. I was in 9th grade study hall when the announcement was made that the Challenger had exploded. Our school was great and had all the teachers play news on TV in each class, so we could keep updated on what was going on.

| I remember that day well, I was in the Navy at the time stationed in NV. We were watching the launch in our office at work. Such a sad and shocking thing it was to see all those people perish as they did.
