| Would you allow your kids to say this??? The phrase "Oh My Goodness!" Is it bad? Is it ok? Is it a replacement for "Oh My God!"???

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | That's the term I've always used, you can also hear it in Shirley Temple movies. I wouldn't want my kids to say, "Oh my God".

| I wouldn't care at all. To be honest, "Oh my God" doesn't even bother me.... but it does sound more "polite", I guess, to say goodness. But when people say Oh my God, I don't look at it as a bad thing, or a way of saying something demeaning.

| I have always heard oh my goodness which was short for oh my goodness gracious. I actually thought it was a southern thing

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Didn't Jerry Lee Lewis say "Oh my goodness gracious, great balls of fire?"

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Oh my mom would have loved you, she tried to give me Shirley Temple hair, but unfortunately, I look more like Elizabeth Taylor.

| I used to get slapped across the face for 'my gosh' and 'gee whiz'. 'my goodness' was fine, though. And if 'my goodness' was okay for my mother, the guardian of ALL things right and wrong, then it must be okay!

| some people equate it w/oh my god. My mom equated oh my gosh with oh my god and gee whiz as 'jesus' we were allowed to say 'good grief' and 'my goodness' just about everything else generated a serious slap in the mouth. yeah...I don't get it either...
