| A deer was hit in front of our house This evening the doorbell rang and it was a guy telling us he had hit a deer and ended up in our driveway with the deer still under the car. He had already called the police. We went out there and the poor deer was alive. I could see blood running out from under the car. It was a young deer...I have seen this deer with it's mother and a sibling quite a few times...even though we live in the city. My hubby told the guy to roll his car back and he'd hold onto the deer to see if we could get him out from under the car. That worked and the deer, at first, just laid there, but then started thrashing around and finally stood up. It had a broken back leg, and acted like he was going to fall, but then got his bearings and headed across the street. We saw him go under an evergreen tree in the back yard of the neighbors across the street. It took the police over half an hour to get here and he went with his flashlight, but couldn't see the deer. I feel so bad thinking of that deer out in the cold and hurting. I'm hoping his mother and sibling will cuddle up and keep him warm and I pray he isn't suffering terribly and will survive. The blood was coming from his leg and probably his tail, because his poor tail was in the street. I did take some pictures to email the guy that hit the deer, but I won't post them as it might make some of you sad to see. Please say a prayer for that poor deer.

| How sad... I hope that they are able to find it. My dh hit a baby deer when he was younger and the police shot it because it was really badly injured. At least this one was able to get up and take off... Hopefully he isn't in a lot of pain

| Poor thing. I drive on an major route to and from work and often see them lying along side the road after being hit by cars. I just wish they would pick them up faster. It is so upsetting to see them lying there. My sil hit one years ago and they sure did a lot of damage to the car.

| Is there an Animal Control Agency or a local wildlife rehab center you could call?

| There's a gazillion deer where I live... they are all over the place and in our backyard every day. I probably pass at least 3 dead deer on the side of road every day especially since right now is hunting and mating season for them. It's always sad though it doesn't phase me anymore because I see it so often Poor things. I had 3 run out in front of me and it's so scary -- I do NOT need anymore accidents.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I was surprised by the pics you emailed me how small the dear was. He must have been young. I hope he is able to survive. I am always afraid when driving at night of a dear running in front of my car. I swear you have the strangest wild animal encounters.

| Awe. That poor deer. I hope it is not suffering. They are really on the move here since the weather has gotten colder. A neighbor of ours hit one Friday night. It was dead so, uhm, they made use of the meat. |

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | Connie, so sorry that happened, and know how hurt you felt for it, from what you said I bet that little deer is out there doing better today and that it will be okay. It probably found it's way back to Mama Deer and siblings, I am sure many get hurt and survive many incidents..... nature sometimes has a better way of healing when they get injuries. Glad your hubby was able to help get it out from underneath the car, sounds like it will be okay. Love and Hugs to you, Patti and Jack and girls. |
