| Does laser hair removal work? I'm considering trying laser hair removal to get rid of the hair on my chin area. I don't know anyone who's actually done laser hair removal, so I was hoping to hear from some of you who'd tried it. Does it work? Does it hurt? How many sessions did it take? What areas did you have done (if that's not too personal)? Would you recommend it? What about the cost?

| I had it done in 2006. I had my lower legs and underarms done...I am now considering my bikini area I live in FL and spend my weekends in a bathing suit, only makes sense. Yes, it works, i had more treatments on my lower legs (appx 15 tx)than i had to underarms(appx 10ish tx). The darker your hair the better the results. I don't think it hurt, it's like a rubber band "flicking" your skin when it "zaps".... As far as the cost, I didn't think it was much Fast forward to TODAY with those areas, it's not a FOREVER result. You WILL need follow up treatments (if you choose)..I haven't. I have never shaved my underarms since, i do use small scissors for the few "straglers" under my arms. I do shave my lower legs a few times a month, not b/c you can see black hair, it's the blonde "downing" that when the sun hits it shows just how long it is and mkae you look like amazon woman. You can barely feel or see it, just watch the sun Hope that helps, I'm all for it, jsut putting off the area i want to do b/c supposendly it's the most "tender" area to get done *sigh*

| Kim Kardashian is "totally hairless" from laser hair removal. My SIL had it done years ago~~she had the chin hair and mustache going on No more stache and her chin is nice and smooth now She said it was the best money she ever spent and would like to have a few other "hairy spots" taken care of too. Other than her I do not have any personal experience to share.

| I have had bikini hair laser removal and I LOVE it and yes it totally works- I got waxed for years but then developed a horrible allergy to wax so had to go the laser removal route and i have to say I wish i did it sooner- you have to go for touch ups but most reputable places will touch you up for free. It also leaves your skin super smooth. It's not that painful- I think waxing was much worse- on the chin I'm sure it would be great but you CANNOT get sun or have sun when you are lasering so depending on where you live I would do it in the winter months and find a dermatologist or reputable place to do it- people that aren't experienced can do major damage. Good luck! |

I hadn't thought about not being in the sun, but that shouldn't be a problem for me. I understand the sessions are scheduled 6 to 8 weeks apart at this clinic, so most of mine will be done over the winter months this way. Is that how far apart sessions are normally scheduled? I'm familiar with the clinic I'll be using - their staff includes dermatologists and plastic surgeons, they're officed in a medical building right next to the hopsital, and I know several people who have been to them for other procedures, so I feel very comfortable choosing them.

Well, I called for an appointment and they require I have a free consultation first - to make sure I'm a good candidate. I couldn't get an appointment that fit my schedule until next Wednesday. If that goes well, I'll schedule my first session then.

| The salon I went to to inquire about this procedure told me I have a certain kind of facial hair that would not work well and would grow back thicker and darker. I cannot remember what she called my type of facial hair. Sorry, but be sure you check that out. Unfortunatley, she had already waxed my eyebrows. I had that done for my daughters wedding and it is the only time I had it done. Big mistake....I have never had to pluck above my eyebrows until then. Now they grow back in strange directions. I'm mortified that someday it will turn into a uni-brow. Ugh...

| The perfect candidate for laser hair removal is dark hair and pale skin and certain types of hair. Once you find out you're a candidate, PM me and I'll tell you where it hurts the most. An iPOD and dreaming of the south pacific really helped me get through my lower legs - OUCH!
