| I thought this website was for help not bashing :( I'm really disappointed in some people on this website. I posted a question earlier about a issue that happened with my baby and I literally got a shock when I logged on tonight and read a comment. I was really excited to find this forum, especially because it reminded me of the baby boards I reference all the time with parenting. However, I was wrong. I don't know what to do. I just feel very low at the moment, because the comment basically said that I didn't use common sense regarding a decision for my dog. I have 2 children and my baby is like my 3rd. I have researched everything for her since day 1 and I will continue. It was just a shocker to come here looking for a little advice and getting bashed. So, thank you to all of you who have been very helpful and thank you to those who have said hateful things. You sure know how to ruin things.

| Thanks! I just get a little upset when people comment your ability to make informed decisions. Our yorkie might as well be our 3rd child, we love her like our biological babies. I don't take people bashing my momma skills!

| As a newbie, I don't think you are wrong at. all. in your feelings. I, too, have felt super judged here, and like my intelligence is being questioned. I am doing my research (specifically on puppies, since our last was a rescue), which I would think would be preferred. Just because I ask about something "bad" maybe about a questionable breeder, or what yorkie dog standards doesn't mean I am doing anything more than trying to avoid those things. I have seen this judgment/holier than thou attitude on my thread and several recent threads I read looking for my answers. I am finding too much opinion in posts. Perhaps if there were a few more facts in replies to newbies or even an explanation as to why something is like that would be more helpful. Especially when I am calling into question replies I am reading here about yorkies specifically because they contridict information I've read from other reputable sources but may cover multiple dog breeds. |

| I'm sorry that happened to you. I just started the site on 7.31.10, and have run across this myself. Just shake off the bad threads, ignore them or quit following them altogether, and don't let other people's posts bother you. I, too, feel like every time I share a debatable article or ask a question that I have no experience of (no one knows it all), that someone out there is waiting by the computer to pick apart what I say. I don't let it bother me or ruin my mood. Don't let people do that to you either. There are some fabulous people on here, and there are some people who are very opinionated. You have my support, and feel free to PM me if you ever have a question that you feel others won't respond well to (I can't answer everything, but I'll use my resources and do my best to help you, not put you down). Have a better week, smile!!!, and no worries!!! (:

| I have been a member of this site for about a year, and unfortunately this I have noticed is typical of it, a Lot of the people here are happy to put you down however what they have to remember is even they had to start somewhere, they were not born with the knowledge that they have acquired over the years by asking other people or reading, I was told recently that no Matter what they are just dogs and this from someone who had their poor girl trussed up in a ridiculous pink satin outfit!!!! So in here you have to have a thick skin and take the good with the bad or it would drive you nuts, from all the people who take the time to answer questions and give you advice you will learn a lot and sometimes not even a vet knows so hang in there we're not all bad. |

| Forums, whether Yorkie forums or any other kind of forums are made up of a variety of members. Not all members will sugarcoat their advice, and what may seem like "bashing" often isn't. If we could sit down with those same people and get the same advice it would come across differently, because we would see facial expressions, hear different inflections in their voice. One thing everyone has in common on here is we love our Yorkies, and their health is what is upmost in members mind and not always thinking how the owner/poster will take what we have to say. I have only been a member since April, and only started posting the end of July, but I have learned a lot from the members here. They are very knowledgeable about Yorkies, many are breeders. If a post offends you for being too "forthright" just skip over it. And Adrianne, this sentence was completely uncalled for: Quote:
Maybe they would find your outfits ridiculous, but would be too polite to make such comments. This is a forum for our little Yorkies - and Yorkie mixes etc, let's just try and get along like the adults we are and not take anything too personal.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Just read the post you are talking about, unfortunatley theres always one isnt there? I wouldnt worry about it. You did the right thing by trying to get information which will benefit the health of your dog. We are all told that our dogs need the vacines so of course we want them to have them all because that is what we believe is in the dogs best interest. But sometimes things happen and in your case your poor pooch has some reactions, we trust our vets to know best but its good that you are trying to gather more information about the subject. I dont know anything about vacines and reactions I just trust my vet and what he says, and if I was in your position I would be here asking the same questions too. Dont let it bother you, it seems there is always one person who jumps in with there big mouth and no social skills and ruins it. Some YT members need to remember that you can get your point across without having to throw your manners out of the window.

| Gosh, I see this in just about every internet forum I participate in; be it another pet forum; a real estate forum; a medical forum. One has to have a thick skin in general to participate on any internet forum! I didn't see your original post so won't comment on that. Take away what you can from here (and you can learn a TON) and ignore the bad. That's what I do! Good Luck with your baby!!

| I have been a member for over 6 years. In the earlier days when everyone "knew" everyone, it was a kinder, gentler place. We reminded each other to be kind and it worked most of the time. Since YT has grown to over 60,000 members it has changed. I honestly believe that the vast majority of members here are caring, kind people who aviod being hateful or hurtful. It is sad that some forget that although you have the right to say something, it may not be the right thing to say. We all have right to free speech, but with that right comes the responsibility of how our free speech affects others. We are members of YT because we are passionate about our Yorkies - we all need to temper that passion with compassion. |
