| Its VERY sad.. I have teenage daughters (foster) and one of them has severe self esteem issues. She wants so badly to be like the "girls in the magazines". I have told her its all fake and even pulled up photoshop videos on youtube of showing how to airbrush pictures... its just sick... they aren't even creating realistic bodies!

No Longer a Member | I remember having self esteem issues because growing up I started getting curvy around 7th grade. Took me until I was 18 to realize, curves are perfect, no one really wants to be stick thin, and men go after a curvy girl before one that has the body of a pre-teen...No offense to those women who are able to eat anything they want without gaining an ounce, some of my hostility is that I have to eat healthy to maintain a good weight, and you people can eat a case of doughnuts, and possibly lose some weight. |

| Yeah, it's just sick! I talk to my 15 year old daughter all the time about how fake all those celebrities are, as she struggles to keep weight off and feels fat sometimes (compared to them, almost anyone seems fat ) I worry for the young girls that have no one to talk to about this stuff and that want to be like their favorite lollipop look alike

No Longer a Member | Lol, my lollipop look alikes that I wanted to be were the Olsen twins, and look at how they turned out! Is it still Paris Hilton for the young teens or someone else? Miley Cyrus would be a good one, she isn't stick thin, at least the last I've seen of her she wasnt. But who knows...I wish we would stop placing so much emphasis on being thin just like the celebrities and just be happy with who we are, find the weight that we look and feel good in and just be content with life. Damn you Hollywood!! You make teenage life so much harder... |

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | The airbrushed picture just looks stupid.. It looks like the body of an alian! not natural at all. She looked lovely in the before picture anyway, so anyone who feels she needs to be airbrushed needs their eyes tested.

| point them toward Christina Hendrix (from MadMen) she is beautiful, curvy and a size 14. Maybe Hollywood is finally "getting" it. The runway models will always be stick figures as long as the designers use them as the "norm" which we all know they are not.

It's just awful that these people do things like this to our youth (it happens to boys too, with the chiseled abs and airbrushed faces of male stars)

| I'm one of those "sticks" you are referring too! However, I'm naturally this way (as I munch on a bag of bbq chips)! My Wii even tells me i'm underweight. I wish girls these days understood the struggles even I go through to keep weight on. Its not fun either being 'thin'. Its terrible what these magazines and such do to make women look this way. it is NOT attractive! |

I think that we all need to be more tolerant of each other, especially we women. Too much catiness in the world I hope that you're able to keep your weight on, it IS hard!
