Ok so you want to stay in the USA- You should go to Yellowstone. Its is amazing. Or go skiiing in the Rockies. If you dont like outdoor activities Washington DC is fun and easy to get around in. You dont even have to rent a car there- just take the metro everywhere. Also stuff is cheap or free- like museums, memorials, zoo.... I used to live there and I love that place.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Alaska! We'll dogsit for Stewie while you go dog mushing. OK, December might not be the best time for a city girl. Tough to beat Hawaii that time of year.

| dog mushing? I don't like that term. It makes me picture someone stepping on a defenseless puppy. Thanks so much for the suggestions everyone. I will let you all know what I decide

cubes in drinks and you will have the time of your life but you want usa and that's not a bad thing. I want to go to Santa Fe but I think NYC would be fun for you at your age. I didn't read past this post, so you may have decided.

| Some friends here just got there passport for Cancun in June and you even need a passport now to get in the canadian side of Niagara Falls. ( I'm sure they needed it for Niagara Falls and I saw the paperwork for Cancun and I'm almost positive they said they needed it there too.)

| Since my passport is lost, it will take up to 6 weeks to get the paperwork all in order. Its a big nightmare.

| You mentioned TEXAS ...Austin is Great! i love it ...lol but im a little bias i guess, since i live here of course. theres a lot to see ...the Capital, Mt Bonnell, dozens of museums, i just love the zooo! Lake Travis, Barton Springs ...though December should be pretty chilly so that kinda rules that out, haha and theres always 6th Street Mexicos great too though!

But for Mexico and most of the Carribbean (sp) islands you only need a birth cetificate and a picture ID. (A call to a travel agent would clarify.) That you can get in a couple of days. But like you said there are so many places in the US to see. Shana is right about DC. My dad/we were stationed there when I was in grade school and every Sunday his mission was to take us to a different museum/cultural event. It could take years to see it all. A girlfriend and I spent the long 4th weekend there the year before 911 and had a ball! Great hotels, restaurants, malls! I don't know if security makes it inconvenient now, though... So I hope to bump this up and hear from our Texan friends for some suggestions for me to visit their fine state and what weather to expect in December! I've always wanted to go to Texas and drink some tall beers and ride a bull...

| I know how picky I sound, but I have been to DC even more than NYC! I LOVEEEEE DC. I just went there for spring break (yes, I know, I'm such a nerd). I work in politics, so I find it so fascinating to be among all of the excitement.

| How about coming down here to the Smokey Mountains, they are very beautiful this time of year with the leaves changing and all, there are TONS of cabins and chalets to rent with hot tubs and all that nice stuff. Then there is all the shopping in gatlinburg and pigeon forge with all the rides and fun things to do. Ober gatlinburg has ice skating and skiing (although I am not sure about being able to ski here right now, maybe though?) And of course last but not least, there is Dollywood. All right here together. Oh, and just across the mountain is Cherokee, NC where there are lots of Indian things and a big CASINO!!! Lots and Lots of guys here

| Somebody mentioned TX. I live in that state and it bores me (no offense to anyone ) Its great to live in and even has some cool place to go but they are so spread out and I wouldnt ever vacation here. I'd go somewhere where there are mountains, national parks or big cities. I have been all over the US. TEXAS Colorado Wyoming Washington state

| Well you could go to the Mall of America up in Minneapolis/St.Paul if you like to shop. That could take 3 days in itself if you go to all the stores.
