| Cavalier King Charles Spaniels What do ya'll think of this breed? I think they're the cutest lil' things cloest to a yorkie. I'm considering getting one in the future. I still need to do a lot of research. Do any of ya'll have this breed? Or know anything about it? I'd appreciate it...

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I had actually considered this breed before I got my yorkies. I think they are absolutely beautiful but at the time the price was 3 times more than yorkies.

| My friend also has one and she loves this dog more than life. They are apparently very lovey and affectionate AND very pretty looking dogs. |

| They are sweethearts. Some people that we know has one that they rescued from a pet store he was very sick, so he is smaller than the average Cavalier, but he is so friendly and affecitionate.

| Ever since Charlotte got Elizabeth Taylor on Sex and the City, I thought they were beautiful. Last year, a friend and I went and played with one at a pet store (pre-YT, mind you!) and the puppy seemed too aggessive. I realize that the puppies in pet stores aren't the most reliable examples of any breed, but I was really turned off at how this dog acted. The yorkies we played with were pretty consistent with the yorkie breed, so I always assumed that the CKCS were like that puppy. I'm not usually a spaniel person either, but I think they're so cute. After my experience with the breed, I was actually suprised to hear so many positive comments about them. I wish someone around me had one so I could see what they're really like. |

| pup I knew a breeder in Maryland...her pups were gorgeous..she told me as well as others that they are prone to genetic heart problems. A reputable breeder has all stock seen by a cardio DR before breeding and they suggest no breeding until 2 yrs..some heart problems show up later. |

| Beautiful dog Susan, there goes to show you what you find in a pet store is so far from what the breed represents. This breed is no more aggressive or no more like a yorkie than a car is like a rabbit The Cavalier King Charles is a mild sensitive little spaniel that is the most beautiful companion on earth. It lives to please it's master and I think with yorkies we live to please them. The English know a great deal about them and have some beautiful dogs. I owned a male once and it was a doll, in fact I had Molly at the same time and they got along great. When I took him to obedience the trainer said the Cavalier should be gently trained and he was so right and then they learn quickly. YorkieRose is right in that they are prone to heart disease. The club had been doing a great job of testing and screening and then as much as they fought it the akc took over and every tom, dick and harry started breeding them to make a $ and I'm afraid it has hurt the breed. There are good breeders out there and be sure to see in writing the fact that the sire and dam were tested. And to the person that started this thread; I can lead you to some good breeders when the time comes if you like.

the sad thing is, the people that are not testing are getting the same price. This site is worth it's weight in gold.

| My girlfriend has a Ruby Cavalier puppy named Tess that I babysat a few weeks ago. Dublin fell head over heels for her. I kept calling her his beautiful long-legged red headed girlfriend. (I don't know how to create a link to a thread on here, but it was called "Dublin has a girlfriend" and has some really sweet pics.) She was the most lovable, cuddly little thing!! And SO soft! I really like her red color, too!

| They are so cute. When I was growing up with had a Cocker Spaniel, she didn't last long she died of some congenital defect, dont remember what, i was very young. We had her a couple of months and she was adorable and sweet. Sherry Lynn, I love that second pic of Dublin with his girlfriend, so cute. |
