| skin kid vaccination question HI i had to take my 2 yr old for a tetanus shot friday they stuck him..he jumped away and they really stuck him hard right after that...it hurt..but he was a manly little guy about it..and he was MAD at the nurse but he seemed/s fine..no pain. no tenderness. no swelling tonight i noticed its slightly bruised and has a hard knot..is that typical?and i think it bothers him when i touch i. and been like 5 days since the vaccination is that from how hard she got him..im mean it was like it surprised her he jumped and she grabbed him n slammed the needle in his arm..enough to tick me off too..but i held my tongue thanks |

| Tetnus shots can be painful anyways. I remember getting one at like 10 years old and it killed me to move my arm. Since he got stuck hard when he jumped, I would assume, bruising is probably likely... like if you get your blood drawn and you tense your arm up, you'll probably bruise. I get injections twice a week for allergies, and while they aren't for the same thing your son got, the injection site is a bit tender and gets red and swollen for a day or two. It feels like I got a giant knot underneath my skin.

| I have 4 children and I used to give them a dose of childrens tylenol before we left the house to get their shots. You can put a cold compress on it and some of the tylenol for the pain. I know those tetanus shots really do hurt and the arm is tender for a while. Maybe a call the the dr wouldn't hurt also just for your own peace of mind. They will tell you if this is a normal reaction. Good luck! Your little man sounds very brave
