| Before you buy land anywhere be sure to check the state's website to see how they tax people. Some states will tax you again on your retirement income so be careful and do our research first! No sense in being taxed on the same money twice, right?? |

| I guess it depends on what style of living you want and how far away from city-life you want to be. The Lexington area is nice.... there are several counties that are near Lexington that are decent. Lexington is in Fayette Co..... others are Bourbon, Franklin, Woodford, Jessamine, Scott....... there are some very rural areas in these counties if you want privacy (and I mean out in the boonies privacy ). Hope that this helps.......

| if you move to Casy Co. you will definetly be in the boonies but Lexington is a fair sized city and that will be about an hour or so away. maybe more. Actually, I think it is more. Takes me an hour to get to Lexington and about an hour and a half to get to casy co. Casy Co., is a huge Amish community. In my opinion, Casy County is nothing like the beautiful Bluegrass area surrounding lexington. |

No Longer a Member | I live in Menifee County, KY. Beautiful place. We live in the Daniel Boone National forest. Lots to see here, Red River Gorge and Cave Run Lake Taxes are pretty low too. |

| I live in Estill Co. Its 45 mins SE of Lexington and its beautiful out here. Lots of poverty in my area but the area is breath taking in some areas. We aren't far from the Red River Gorge, Natural Bridge, EKU, Cumberland Falls, etc. Its a much more simple way of life here and there is no pressure to "keep up with the Jones" Real estate is VERY cheap. Several people have taken up "camp" and have bought land out in the county for retirement or vacationing. Good luck in your search!
