| Can anyone give me tips on how to find a GOOD doc? Diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes about 6 weeks ago, and struggling with the doctor's office. He's not very up to date on the latest diabetes info, and I've had it. I'm not a science experiment, dangit, I'm a human being!!! It's so frustrating to feel so icky all the time, and also to be treated like a dummy. I wish I knew more people locally, especially someone that's diabetic. So, thought I'd ask here to see if any of you had any ideas on how I could go about finding the right doctor for me, without spending big bucks on all those first time office visits, where they charge you way more to "set up your chart" I'm paying cash, no insurance, so I really can't mess around with all that. TIA

| I would find an endocrinologist or an internal medicine specialist.

| I agree with the previous post. I would go to an endocrinologist. I see one for a different issue, but they should be very up to date on diabetes.

| One thing I asked about the dr I have now: Do you do your own billing or is the billing in another area. I have insurance and had medicaid also. You can not bill medicaid pts. They are not resp for the bills. The last dr I had was a national company and I had to call GA each time I had an issue with my bill which was often. They did not know how to handle TN's tncare (our medicaid). Paying cash, may also cause a problem. You might call the local diabetes center and ask for a referrel.
