| Need help choosing laminate floors I am going to be ordering laminate flooring from lumber liquidators this weekend. They are having a sale that ends tomorrow. I thought I had decided on this one: Lumber Liquidators: 12mm Westminster Rosewood High Gloss Laminate But then I noticed this one: Lumber Liquidators: 12MM Summer Retreat Teak Handscraped Laminate They both have an AC rating of 3, come in varying lengths and have the attached underlayment. The main differences are the color and the second one is textured to look more like real wood and the first one is high gloss which I've heard is more scratch resistant. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

| I personally like the high gloss look. Either would be beautiful. the thing with laminates is it doesn't matter if the gloss is a high gloss or not, they all (laminates) resist scratching. That is why so many pet owners prefer laminate over real hardwood or engineered wood. I have laminate installed and have 6 dogs and never have problems with scratching

| Oh, I wanted to add... if you go to the reviews there are lots more pictures that reviewers have posted after they installed theirs.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I like the first one. I keep hearing that the high gloss shows every foot print, dust etc. I want something in my living area and hall ways (where the dogs are). But, I am wondering if I would be happy with this. ?? |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I like the 2nd one. I have laminate high gloss and it does show every paw print when they come in from outside after rain, but it is so easy to clean up.

I did read a review where someone said that it's a lot of up keep with pet hair and dust but that they are planning on getting a roomba to solve that problem. I think that is what we are going to do too.

| How many people that have laminate floors, installed it themselves? Me and DH are going to attempt to do this ourselves but I am a little nervous. Keeping my fingers crossed because I don't want to have to pay someone to do it.

| My DH installed ours and believe me if he can do it ANYONE can do it. Seriously it's very simple , all you do is cut a lay. It fits together like a puzzle and is actually kind of fun to lay, I helped. Heres a warning though. They are scratch resistent but not nick resistent. My shep mix dropped her nylabone and it put a big nick in it. Last edited by lillymae; 04-24-2010 at 09:17 PM. |

| One more thing. The darker you go the more dust & grime shows up. I noticed the oils in their paw pads makes prints on it . My aunt has a very light floor and it hardly shows anything. And the dark shows water spots really bad too. If I ever put it in again I will deff go with the lighter floor. I'm thinking of the cork this time it's beautiful. |

| Krystee, I have a Teak laminate and I LOVE IT. It is not form Lumber Liquidators but another company. I can tell you from my own experience that the average person cannot tell its a laminate and oh my goodness so easy to care for. My suggestion is if you have a concrete subfloor get the sound cushion, it will have with the echo and noise when you are walking on it.
