| HAHAHAHA!!!! *raises hand* GUILTY!!! I started back in 94 can you believe it!!! I think I may have burned all my old pics from my candy days! However, I will tell you that I got into it bc my sis was friends with Christopher Lawrence! I'm not into trance anymore, but I do *now* love deep house (san francisco and chicago style), breakbeats, and electro! I love Miss Kittin, Felix da housecat and miguel migs. (I think it best the uninformed should stay that way!)

YT Addict | Get out I LOVE CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE! Well did, haven't seen him in about 10 years, but you know what I mean... haha What a way to get into the scene! I don't go out and listen to trance, but I am currently listening to it as background noise on itunes radio while I do my homework (clearly procrastinating! lol!) I'm always open to new music too, and I think I'm stuck in the music from the late 90s early 00's. I haven't heard too much new artists that I've fallen in love with. I'm open to suggestions Maybe we should post links to some good sets! I'd love to hear some "new" deep house chicago-style. Throw something at me. I'll go look for it. Felix is good.... !

| Well, like red98vett, I have no idea what you're talking about! However, if you love music, you might consider checking out pandora.com. It's a free radio station that lets you put in the name of a song or an artist. Then it plays that song/artist as well as others that sound similar. You can thumbs up/down songs you like/dislike and build your station. It's an AWESOME way to encounter new artists you may not have previously heard. I love it and I have it playing almost all day long. Also, the best thing about Pandora is that, while it is supported by ads unless you subscribe, the ads aren't super annoying and rarely interrupt the music. It also doesn't have any kind of pop-ups or spam/spyware problems like so many free things online do. I've used it for almost five years and finally subscribed last year...30 bucks well-spent. -C

| Yea I used to use pandora too but it slows down my computer at work (which is when I usually use it) so I've been using the itunes radio like derby layne. I like the early 00's stuff better, I can't stand going back and listening to the early 90's stuff, reminds me of freestyle! Remember "sandstorm"??? LOL Dance Dance Revolution!!! I don't have any dj's names off the top of my head, but that is the genre of house i like. Anyway, have not been in the *scene* for quite a few years, so I don't know any new talent out there. CL's stuff has been the exact same for years and years, got enough of that a long time ago! So you like Miss Kittin (electro)? She is one of my faves.

YT Addict | omg sandstorm. LOL!!!!! The stuff I like to call "hardcore techno" from the early 90's was really good. I don't know any dj's off the top of my head because all I had were unlabelled mix tapes my friend had brought back from Scotland. Ya I haven't been in the scene in like 10 years, but now that I live in Toronto I keep seeing these names of dj's (Steve Lawler! Tiesto! to name a few) I always wanted to see back when I lived in my small town and never got the chance to... I can't seem to bring myself to pay these ridiculous prices, be surrounded by 19+ drunks (among other things) just to go out dancing. My husband hates the music, and my friends are all older now- a lot of them with kids. The most I get is my ipod and a good jog outside to break that sweat. I still miss a good night out dancing, but I tend to gear towards dancing to anything with a beat! (sad!) It's the most I can drag my hubby out to listen to. haha I brought him to a real techno event once, small club, and while I loved every second of it (because it wasn't a big club venue) he wanted out of there! I get those nights about once a year. that's it lol Moving to a small town is going to put me back to top 40. My hometown is an hour from Detroit (DEMF!) but again, the older you get- the less people want to do that kind of thing. Money money money.... I do fine with living room dance parties with my girlfriends and the "remember when?"s

| OMG tiesto is still headlining down here all the time for new years and halloweens etc. I can't stand that kind of music. And over here most of the raves are all ages!!! Can you imagine being surrounded by 13 and 14 yr olds? It makes me sad to see them, what a buzzkill you know! I remember early 90's hardcore, that stuff scared me! We don't really go out dancing anymore. Going to Hollywood is just too expensive, and as soon as i get there I want to go home. All these young kids annoy the heck outta me!

YT Addict | I just want to see tiesto to say i've seen tiesto LOL The remixes mostly. haha I could NOT go to an all ages party! A few of my friends spin those parties locally so I go to support, and to hear decent music for free! but man oh man. I am so disgusted, feel terribly old, and wonder where their parents are and if they know they are barely dressed! yuck I was never like that. hollywood? i never hear anyone talking about hollywood unless it's famous people! LOL! Ever cool! I bet it's like any big city, really isn't it? That's how I felt about Paris when I went, and its how I feel about living in Toronto. As a small town gal I always thought big cities were so much more than they really are, and all they are are more expensive! I can't even go out here. I can't believe no one else has responded! Come on you old jaded ravers!!! I think I'll have to dig out pics for the sake of laughs. AFTER im done at this coffee shop (moved on from the library!) wasting my time not doing a portfolio in a child...lol me and my $2 lattes and Itunes Radio! I'm not familiar with a lot of electro! so aside from miss kitten which I know- throw some names at me... please

| There's two main clubs in hollywood that are electronica type places, everything else is top40 or hip hop, SNORE!!! Really there's not many celebrities as you'd think. it's all wannabes, and if you do see someone they are just quasi-famous, it's not like you're gonna see an a-list move star at a club. You'll only see them if there is an awards show, then you can see them, but the parties afterwards, us mere peons can never gain entrance! Anyway, electro... I don't know of any new names, but ones I like are Goldfrapp, peaches (shhh don't tell anyone, she's my guilty pleasure! LOL), Justice. You know what I've been listening to lately? old school 40's big band! LOL Benny goodman and glenn miller. I used to listen to that stuff in high school too along with trance! What a combo! Seriously is there no one else who wants to remeniss (sp?) with us? PLUR!!!!

| You'd have to dial it back quite a few years to get on my radar. My boys used to got to raves in New Orleans back in the day. It was only after they grew up and were away from it that they told me about them and what went on...sounds pretty wild. I'm more into old school rock of all types....psychedelic, prog, blues...you name it. I love concerts and have been to hundreds...love the road trips. I still try to find newer music to my liking and there's some good stuff out there. For newer stuff (relatively speaking), I like the Black Crowes and other roots rock. Here's a bit of trivia for ya'. Back in the '60s, some shows in England were referred to as rave ups. The Yardbirds had an album out back then called "Having A Rave Up". Totally different music, though. |
