| Need your help... Well, it looks like my refrigerator is finally deciding to die. We bought this Kenmore back in IA before we moved out here 12 yrs ago! Anyway, it's been a long time since I've had to look at appliances and I don't think I have that much time to research them too much. Could you all please tell me what you have & if you're happy with it? I'd really like to get stainless steel with the bottom freezer and water/ice in the door but I don't even know anyone with one. Also, I'd like to replace the oven & dishwasher with the same brand. All input would really be appreciated - even if it's brief. Thank You!!!

| I have a Frigedere/Gallery refrigerator top freezer and no water or ice display on door. I didn't want to run the water line, living in a condo. My daughter's both have the same only stainless steel, mine is white and both have had problems with the water/ice dispenser. I understand Sears appliances are usually very good plus they always run sales. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | We bought our current one (Frigidaire, side by side, water/ice in door) new 13 years ago and it's worked fine for the most part. The ice maker portion quit working a few years back and even though dh knows how to fix it, he doesn't want to hassle with it (I guess ) So, we've been using trays or buying ice. I really don't like the water from the door though - it can be a constant mess to keep clean, splattering on the floor, all over the front of the fridge and in the little tray. The filter has to be replaced often and even though dh knows how to change it out...it is kind of like the ice maker - it doesn't get taken care of, so we end up using tap water. I think it's easier to access items in a side by side versus a freezer in the bottom. But then I've not seen newer models so maybe the designs have changed. The one things I wish we would have bought a larger size and will with our next one. During holidays or family gatherings I run out of room quickly!

| My Kenmore (Sears) side-by-side refrigerator is closing in on 20 years (previous owner installed) and everything still works and looks good. I installed a matching Kenmore gas range -- it looks and cooks like something that cost 3 times as much. The staff at two appliance stores advised to me to avoid KitchenAid. They said that the brand has the highest rate of returns and complaints. I was disappointed because their products are really good looking. |

Hmm - my current frig doesn't have the ice/water in the door either and I just wanted it for the easier access but now that you mention it - my Mom has it in the door and yes, it does drip. ugh! Plus she just had to replace the plactic thing that you press against to get the water! I've always had Kenmore and while I know it's just whatever they buy and put the name on - I've always had them last a LONG time. I had my previous washer/dryer for 10 yrs but left it when we moved but I bought the exact same set here and it's still going after 12 yrs. I thought the side by side w/ bottom freezer looked nice because of the way the shelves were in the frig. I've seen where they had a large pull out shelf at the bottom (of the frig) where you could put food trays - loved it! We have a freezer in the garage so maybe I'll look at the side/side bottom frez without the water/ice in the door. I wonder if they make the side/side with the freezer on top? Oh, do you think there are more problems with the stainless steel? I've always had the white textured ones.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | You know, I think I've seen them with freezers on top but I always figured I'm in the fridge portion way more often than the freezer so it's more convenient for me with fridge on top. But I know they have some great new designs anymore so I definitely would check them all out. My next will most likely be stainless unless they come up with something I like better. I've had white, off white...and yes even...avocado green now I've got a black one and like it, just think the stainless would be easier to clean - I love my stainless sink!

| All my appliances are Frigidaire Stainless....I have had no problems with them at all, they are going on 6 years old....I use Whitman's Stainless Cleaner, it repels fingerprints and does not leave residue or streaks, I don't have children, but the furrbutts's noses never show up on the bottom of the fridge or dishwasher!

I agree with you that black appliances are tough to keep shiny and clean -- that is what I have now. | |

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | I have the Frigidaire Stainless too for my stove & dishwaher. Very pleased with both. If you are concerned about scratches.....let me tell you, a couple of times we heard Bella in the kitchen with her paws scratching on the dishwasher....begging for something that was on the counter. Yes, I freaked! But very Happy to report.........NO SCRATCH MARKS! So, it must be the stainless that is scratch proof. My refrigerator is Whirlpool side by side. I have been very pleased with it as well. It has the ice, water, light, & also a dispenser lock on the door. I haven't had any problems with splattering. I just have to wipe the tray. Good Luck with yr appliance shopping!

| Don't I wish! My cleaning lady always tells me, "I don't know why I clean the glass on the patio door, I am sure as soon as I leave, evidence shows back up"!
