| Am I being selfish? sorry it is long My birthday is the 19th, my younger sister in law's the 18th. It will be her 30th and my 46th. Here is where I think the selfish part comes in (can't help how I feel). My youngest bro in law and his girlfriend spend christmas eve evening with my family. That includes my parents, sis, bro and his wife and my aunt. My parents have practically adopted bil since he helps so much when my hubby does things for them. My aunt gave everyone there a gift card to a buffet restruant and my mom sd that way we can all go and eat together. So I was thinking that we could go the 23rd and celebrate my birthday. Before I could mention to hubby, he sd his bro sd we could all go next weekend to celebrate thier sister's birthday since it is a milestone one. I feel that my parents and aunt would not want to go if it was just for her. They are not close to her. My dtr sd we could celebrate both, but not sure how sis in law would feel sharing it with me. I also wonder if it would be selfish to suggest it with both of us. What do you think? I have not asked my parents what they think. I do not really want to put them on the spot where they feel compelled to say yes.

| I think celebrating both is a great idea and not at all selfish. Obviously you don't mind sharing the day, but would she? Although most people don't consider 30 to be young, I know some that still act is if they were in their 20s. I guess it would depend on how open she would be to the idea. I think it would be better coming from someone else in the family..."Hey, its Johnna's birthday too, maybe we can combine the celebration" rather than you suggesting it and having it seem like maybe you are crashing her "dinner". It sounds like everyone is close so maybe your DH could arrange it?

| I think hubby is going to talk to his brother tomorrow about it. We get along good with his youngest brother and his girlfriend and get together alot. For example to the chinese buffet tomorrow. His sisters not so much. The oldest thinks i am spoiled ( I am but that is not her business) and hubby treats me better than any of her 3 husbands have treated her. and the birthday sister and I get along ok more so now than we used to. Little sister was 2 when jim and i got married. She once sd I "took" her brother. She is bipolar and has her moods where she doesn't like anyone. She once got mad at me for something I sd and threatened to kill me with a chain. It was serious enough that when bro in law heard it he called hubby who was not home and he came running home. So I do have some issues with her. I just want to have a happy birthday.

| Looks like things will change. Bil was ok with sharing the day between sil and me but then we thought of something. Sil wrecked the car belonging to her sis on thursday so none of the 4 have a car (they shared one). So it would be impossible for them to get to the restruant as no one else has a vehicle that they can fit in. All are very overweight (not being mean as i say this as hubby and I are also overweight) and we have 2 dr trucks and suv's also they are physically unable to climb in the back seats. So it looks as if we are going to do a potluck on her bday and the rest go out to eat the sat after my bday. Thanks for your thoughts.

| Well, I'm glad things all got worked out (kind of). But for the record, NO I do not think it would have been selfish for you to want to celebrate your birthday too. |
