| Dead Coyote on my street this am I knew they were there but this is the first time I actually saw one. Poor thing was dead on the side of the road when I left for work this morning. I called the police to pick it up. It's really scary walking Bud at night because I know their lucking in the woods. When he growls looking toward the woods I get chills. I always walk under the lights on the people side of the road leaving the dog walking areas to daytime only. Waiting to be fined but who cares I'm ready for battle now that I actually saw one. I actually felt sorry for the poor thing after all it's only trying to survive as well yet on the other hand having a small dog that needs to be walked at night can be frightening. Be careful, especially if yours go in a yard, please always be there with them. |

| Last week on Fox news they said that there have been ALOT of coyote sightings and due to the weather we are having to be on the look out with our dogs!! A dog was attacked in our area... Lack of food will cause them to attack and with all this yucky snow I am so parinoid taking Laci out at night because she does the same thing.. .look in a direction towards the woods and growl and back up and nearly sit on my feet protecting me.. I agree it is scarey

| I took pictures of one walking through my yard last year. I felt terrible for the poor thing. He/she looked hungry and was holding one leg up while walking. They are really beautiful but I am so scared of them at the same time. |

I live in a Condo development and they have rules and regulations regarding walking your dog. There's plenty areas to walk your dog but all are infront of the woods which wrap around the entire complex. You are not allowed to walk your dog on the grass adjacent to the buildings or in the gardens. So walking Buddy on the sidewalk around the buildings is a no-no but the heck with them. I knew they were there because a neighbor spotted one in the fall so since then at night I walk on the forbidden side that's lit. We get monthy board notices threatening fines. Some of my neighbors have already been fined. 25.oo first time, 50.oo second time, etc. I'm ready for battle if I'm reported. Screw them in plain english if I"m reported. Won't be the first time I fought them regarding our dogs safety.

YT 2000 Club Member | they frequent my property, property line, the field next to ours and my parent's field ALOT.. I see them on a daily basis just going into town and we hear them nightly. A few years ago, I had purchased some ducks for my pond out of 12, I had 3 left by spring. I was heart broken. I loved my ducks, they were so much fun and relaxing to watch. The second year I had them I brought them up to my house, kept them in a fenced off part of my yard that had a shelter for the winter. The coyotes came into my yard, within a few feet from my house, where my kids play all summer and got my ducks, got into the fence and took them all. I was so sad, as were my kids.. not to mention they were so scared to even go out at night to get in the car. We havent had ducks since. My bigger dogs are in a 8 foot fenced yard that is attached to my house and my little dogs stay on least at all times and we stay out of the backyard at night. We have to be on our toes at all times in the winter around here, in the spring and summer they are almost non exsistant. We have reports on the news on a daily basis about them being spotted in store parking lots in the city and eating out of the trash bins. Its pretty scary stuff.....

| I also live in a complex and we are surrounded by woods and conservation land, last year my daughters boyfriend was walking Laci and he saw what he thought was a German Shepard running by , it was late at night, he was like come here buddy, he thought he may have been lost, he quickly realized it was a coyote....

| My 14 week old Mia was killed by a coyote in 2007 in broad daylight. She was standing about 5 feet from my husband when the coyote came out of no where and grabbed her. My husband chased it and it finally dropped her but she died in his arms. He now shoots every coyote that comes near our house. I might seem cruel but I won't take the chance of them getting another one of my furbabies. The farmer next door thanks us because since my husband started shooting them he has not lost any calves. I hate the idea of killing any animal but we have to for our pets safety.

I am so sorry for your loss. That must have been very tramatic for the both of you. Killing a wild animal to protect yourself is just something that can't be avoided at times. Wild animals will go wherever they can find food. Farmer's have always been a target due to the animals they house. You would think there would be enough to eat with so many deer (is sad to think about but true) available with the over popluation of them. Stay safe.

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Oh that's so scary. and terribly sad. Poor thing. My dad sees a coyote every morning about a mile away from our house. Sometimes he sees it running around, other times it just sits next to a park bench.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh how sad . I always say a little something when I see an animal who has passed, bc I feel so bad that they may have suffered or something or been hit by a car - so I say a blessing about what a great creature they must've been while they were here or whatever feels right at the time. Poor 'lil coyote. Very good point on keeping your little ones safe as yorkies are prey for many larger creatures...we never let our littles outside by themselves .

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Ooooo, interesting . Some would definitely say that the coyote may be your Dad's "power animal" or "guide animal". I may have to look up the coyote for your Dad .
