| Anyone know about Scholarship Essay Writing? My daughter is about to start filling out her scholarship applications. Many of them require essay writing. The first one is about what is important to you. So, as broad as that is, does anyone know about what specifically they are looking for when you write an essay? Any help would be very much appreciated!

| I think that they are looking for a decent essay, of course, but also her ability to spell and punctuate properly. My nephew just wrote his essay, which spoke about how his Grandfather was a role model to him. It was just written from the heart and he only applied to one school, Albright, and was accepted.

| What she writes about is important, but more important is HOW it's written. They're looking for an essay that is well put together, coherent, gets them from point A to point B without any side trips, and lets them "see" your daughter in the writing. Don't just depend on spell check. There and their and they're, your and you're, for example are all spelled correctly, make sure you're using the right one. My degree is in English and I'd be happy to proofread once she's done. Good luck to her! |

| While they're looking for good ideas, they're mainly looking at the student's ability to write a coherent essay and utilize correct punctuation, grammar, etc. Good luck with college applications!! |

Thanks for all the replies. This is what I am worried about it not necessarily being about what but, how. I just may take you up on this when she gets it done. This is a big one, and it means a lot to her.
