| Yay, getting a Mac this week (I hope!) So, I'm going to use some of the Christmas money I got to FINALLY get a Mac laptop! I've been wanting one for almost 2 years now. I finally feel safe enough and have enough of a cushion in the bank to get one. So I'm gonna wait 'til the New Years mall rush is semi-over and make a trip into the Apple store. I'm going for the 13" Macbook Pro... which lists for $1199 but I've got -$500 in gift cards (both mall and Apple). Has anyone ever heard of getting a refurbished Mac? I saw on Apple's website some refurbished ones for sale (A 13" Pro for $999) and was wondering if anyone had heard anything about this. I'm all for saving money!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I got a 13 inch Macbook new at Best Buy about 6 months ago for 999.00 new. I would be leary of a refurbished one unless it was a lot less. Our Macbook has the white plastic case and already has a crack in it.

| I have a Mac Book and I just love it. Do you have a mico center in your city? They have them for $999. and you get a $200. dollar gift card. They are brand new.

| don't know anything about the mac but for the price difference, I'd go with the new one. Never know what it's been thru with someone else and for $200, it's really not worth finding out.

| I would get it only if its certified from Apple. I got an ipod touch refurbished from them and saved a lot of money. A lot of times its people who just return it for no reason. I have a MacBook Pro and I got mine w a student discount and that saved a little bit of money. But the refurbished ones come with the same warranty and everything straight from the manufacturer so I don't see anything wrong with it, thats how I saved on my ipod touch and it works great.

Judging from the reviews, it seems as though the "Speck" brand is the one that scratches your macbook.... i have the "Incase" brand and i havent noticed any scratches... Also, i would highly recommend this especially if u have have a white macbook Moshi ClearGuard Keyboard Protector for Aluminum MacBook and MacBook Pro - Apple Store (U.S.) its great bc it keeps dirt from getting trapped in between the keys... and u can wash it with soap and water! Hope this helps! | |

| We bought our Mac in June. At first I hated it, I wanted my Dell back Now, I love it ! It takes getting used to if you have never had one before, but it is amazing. I think we paid like 1900 for it . My husband was supposed to go get a new Dell, instead he came home with the Mac |

| I have had my MacBook (aluminum casing) for a year now and I love it! You will not be sorry, it is more than worth the money. My last laptop was a Dell and I thought nothing could be better, that is, until I got my MacBaby. If there is an Apple store in your area you can take a one-hour class (free) and they show you how to use your new Mac (whatever you did on the Dell, this is how you do it on the Mac, kinda' thing). There are also videos on the apple.com site that are helpful. Have fun and welcome to the Apple Family! |
